One woman's impressive command of a dishwasher has well and truly blown the many minds of people on TikTok.

As we all know, despite the majority of us not being able to live without it, technology is a pain in the backside at the best of times. There's a malfunction waiting just around the corner at any given time, ready to ruin our day.

Compared to computers or the intangible cloud, though, kitchen-based appliances tend to be the easiest pieces of tech to get to grips with.

And yet, fridges, washing machines, air fryers, blenders, and tumble dryers still have a few distressing tricks up their sleeves. Such is the narrow spectrum of consumer awareness, they might even be classed as trade secrets.

For instance, not many dishwasher users will be aware that the top shelf can be lowered.

Yep, you heard me. This revelation arrived via TikTok content creator @frun.pa.landet, who's inadvertently saved the lives of many wine glasses.

In their viral video, this genius illustrated how dishwasher-fillers can lower the top shelf in order to fit in the taller items. On this particular device, they merely clicked the railing on the top shelf, allowing it to drop a couple of inches to use the space more efficiently.

How about that for a life-changing insight in the boozy lead-up to Christmas?

As previously mentioned, this has left fellow TikTokers amazed, with @hotdogsilly among those who gave this hack a go after watching the clip. Now, her video is spreading the good word, educating other flummoxed home owners who couldn't seem to squeeze everything they needed to into their units.

"28 years old and I learnt this from your TikTok. Thank you," someone commented, before a second added: "Need to try this ASAP."

"OK so this one vid proves that the ~1000 hours I have so far spent here was actually all worth it," highlighted another happy viewer.

Somebody else even hailed the hack as a 'life-changer'.

"Literally lived in my flat for 9 months and you’ve just changed me life!!!" read another surprised reaction.

However, don't get too celebratory just yet, because it's also worth mentioning that not every dishwasher is capable of lowering the top shelf.

Upon realizing this, one TikTok fan joked: "My dishwasher doesn't have this so I've ordered a new kitchen."

According to another individual keeping tabs on the hack, it's usually machines manufactured by Bosch, Neff, or Siemens that are designed to do this.
