Bizarre details have been revealed after a crash near Nevada's Area 51.
Located in Nevada, more than 120 miles northwest of Las Vegas, the official government name for Area 51 is the Nevada Test and Training Range. These days, it's used as an open training range for the US Air Force; however, it's always been subject to conspiracy theories, largely focused on aliens and UFOs.
Which is perhaps why there's so much intrigue around a crash that took place back in September, just outside the boundary of Area 51 at Groom Lake.
“On September 23, 2025, an aircraft assigned to the 432nd Wing was involved in an incident with no fatalities or injuries,” the Wing said in a statement.

“The site was secured and guarded until recovery and cleanup operations were completed on September 27th.”
Following the incident, Air Force as well as the FBI have announced that they are investigating 'tampering' at the crash site after the incident took place.

“During a follow-on site survey on October 3rd, investigators discovered signs of tampering at the mishap location, including the presence of an inert training bomb body and an aircraft panel of unknown origin that were placed on the site post-incident,” the release said.

“The matter is under investigation by Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI) and the FBI. No further details are available at this time.”

Joerg Amu, who runs the monitoring site DreamlandResort.com, told KLAS TV that he was listening to the radio traffic when he heard that the base had been locked down.
“I had my cup of coffee, and I am listening to Area 51 security, and all of a sudden they got very serious, and locked down the base,” he said, explaining he recalled hearing, 'We just had an asset go down. We had an asset go down'.

“This is not Creech security. This is Area 51 security, and they had an asset go down. "hen the next thing you hear, UAV, unmanned aircraft, unmanned aircraft with ordnance," he added.

Amu explained that when he approached the area, he was faced with armed deputies and military personnel blocking each route.
He said that when he later returned, the site was buried under a thick layer of dirt.

Amu is also sceptical about the Creech Air Force's statement regarding the 'unmanned aircraft' and 'tampering'.
“That’s absolutely bogus,” he said.
“I think that was designed to make people not go there, discourage people from going there."
