Last Thursday (June 12), an Air India plane carrying 242 people crashed shortly after take off. It was initially thought that no one survived the tragic ordeal, but miraculously one man, a British national, did.

The London-bound flight was airborne for less than a minute before the fatal incident.
It's now been revealed that Air India received a warning from India's aviation regulator shortly before the devastating ordeal.
As per Reuters, three Airbuses were said to be of concern and these aircrafts flew 'despite being overdue checks on emergency equipment, and for being slow to address the issue', according to government documents.

It's been noted that this warning was not in relation to Flight 171 that crashed last week. The jet that crashed was a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
The checks in question were carried out in May, says the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Checks on one of the aircrafts were allegedly three months late, but Air India proceeded to use the plane for domestic routes.
"The above cases indicate that aircraft were operated with expired or unverified emergency equipment, which is a violation of standard airworthiness and safety requirements," part for the damning DGCA report read.
It adds that the airline 'failed to submit timely compliance responses' to deficiencies raised by regulatory body.

The news of the report not only comes after last week's devastating crash but after an Air India plane was forced to turn round mid-flight on June 16 because of a suspected technical issue that was raised by the pilot.
Addressing the incident shortly after, an Air India spokesperson told UNILAD: "AI315 operating from Hong Kong to Delhi on 16 June 2025 air-returned to Hong Kong shortly after take off due to a technical issue. The flight landed safely at Hong Kong and is undergoing checks as a matter of abundant precaution.
"Alternative arrangements have been planned to fly the passengers to their destination Delhi at the earliest. We are providing all necessary on-ground assistance to the passengers to minimise the inconvenience caused by this unforeseen disruption."
