Donald Trump has ordered the release of another set of classified files.

When Trump returned to office earlier this year, he promised more transparency when it comes to FBI investigations that were in the public interest.

One of the first sets of files he declassified was that regarding the 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy. 1,123 records, comprising a total of 32,000 pages, were made public, but only 80 of files related to the assassinated president directly.

The president went on to release files about disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking.

The US House Oversight Committee released over 33,000 pages after there were rumors of a so-called 'client list' of his.

While the Trump administration appeared to release what was new information, Democrats found that only three percent of the documents contained new information and that the rest was already public.

A lot of people have suggested that the president is withholding information about Epstein in light of him having once had ties to him. Reportedly, Trump's name is mentioned in some of the files — something the White House has continuously denied.

Now, in what appears to be another move to distract people from the Epstein files, the president has ordered that documents on Amelia Earhart be released.

Earhart was an aviation pioneer and tried to become the first female pilot to fly across the globe. Sadly, she didn't achieve such a feat and disappeared over the Pacific Ocean in 1937.

Trump penned to Truth Social on Friday (September 26): "I have been asked by many people about the life and times of Amelia Earhart, such an interesting story, and would I consider declassifying and releasing everything about her, in particular, her last, fatal flight!

"She was an Aviation Pioneer, the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, and achieved many other Aviation 'firsts'."

He continued: "She disappeared in the South Pacific while trying to become the first woman to fly around the World. Amelia made it almost three quarters around the World before she suddenly, and without notice, vanished, never to be seen again.

"Her disappearance, almost 90 years ago, has captivated millions. I am ordering my Administration to declassify and release all Government Records related to Amelia Earhart, her final trip, and everything else about her."

The president did not disclose when exactly the new files will be made public.
