Let the (cryptos) eat cake! And just wait until you hear what was in the gift bags too...

The honor of Donald Trump's company for an hour as well as a meal, all for $1.78 million? Who could resist?

Alas, crypto investors who splashed the cash to attend a POTUS-hosted dinner at Trump National Golf Club near Washington DC on Thursday (May 22) were left far from impressed when served up their courses.

Over 200 people attended the dinner after having bought into Trump's very own crypto coin - what can't the man do, eh? - called, you guessed it, $TRUMP.

Crypto intelligence firm Inca Digital estimates investors as having spent a total of a whopping $148 million on the $TRUMP meme coin to score a spot at the exclusive dinner - the top-25 holders spending over $111 million, as reported by Reuters.

And blockchain analytics company Nansen reports guests at the event spent an average of $1.78 million each.

But what exactly were guests served in return for such a figure?

The menu for Trump's crypto event

With the top 220 holders of Trump's crypto in attendance, the event needed to impress.

First announced in April, 'Have Dinner with President Trump' was advertised as 'the most exclusive invitation in the world' only available to 'the top 220 $TRUMP Meme Coin Holders'.

One investor revealed to Wired they purchased $300,000 in $TRUMP to earn a seat at the dinner

Each table seated 10 under crystal chandeliers and at first glance, the menu seems pretty delicious - options reportedly including a pan-seared halibut with citrus reduction, some organic salad, garlic mashed potatoes, a filet mignon with demi glaze with attendee TikToker Nicholas Pinto sharing a photograph of a warm lava cake to Twitter.

Alas, Pinto told Wired: "It was the worst food I’ve ever had at a Trump golf course. The only good thing was bread and butter."

"The food sucked," he added to NBC. "[I] wasn’t given any drinks other than water or Trump’s wine. I don’t drink, so I had water. My glass was only filled once."

His caption to the dessert also read: "Not a big mac but I'll take it."

Another attendee reviewed the meal: "OK, but not top-class." And a CNBC correspondent said he'd seen 'better food' on an airline, as quoted by The Telegraph.

Nothing says wooing crypto investors than serving up 'airplane food' eh? The question is, did other moments at the event make up for the abysmal food?

Trump's '25-minute speech' and dancing to 'YMCA'

The subheading really says it all, doesn't it? Trump was reportedly only at the event for around an hour.

If guests saw Trump's address to Congress back in March, they'll have made sure to quickly nip to the loo and grab a drink before sitting down to buckle up and listen in to Trump's speech at the event.

However, if they didn't know Trump is capable of speeches as long as 90 minutes - yes, we're still not over it - then they would've been in for a tough near-half-an-hour.

A source told Wired Trump's speech lasted around 25 minutes with The Telegraph reporting it ran for 23 minutes.

Although, apparently the POTUS did treat guests to a little wiggle to 'YMCA' by The Village People as he left the stage.

Oh, but let's not forget the gift bags too of course.

Inside the gift bags from Trump's crypto event

If guests thought the meal was underwhelming, then they weren't prepared for the gift bags.

The gift bags are reported as containing 'Fight Fight Fight-themed hats and posters' alongside 'a collectible plastic card'.

The four largest investors in Trump's crypto coin are reported as having received limited edition Trump Tourbillion watches at least - each watch priced at around $100,000.

And two lucky attendees also got the chance to win one via a raffle too, sources report.
