JD Vance gives shocking reason for Trump's 'racist' AI video mocking opponents

Trump's AI video played on a loop in the White House briefing room

JD Vance has issued his response after an AI video Donald Trump posted online was dubbed as 'racist'.

Anyone who follows the POTUS on Truth Social will know how often he posts on the social media platform, with some of his updates being more outlandish than others.

Trump often uses the platform to discuss meetings he's had with other world leaders, and you'll sometimes find a bizarre video or two on there as well.

And shortly before the recent federal government shut down, Trump took to Truth Social once more to share an AI-generated video mocking House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

The deepfake clip saw Jeffries wearing a sombrero and handlebar moustache as he stood alongside Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

As the video progressed, mariachi music played in the background, before a fake Schumer claimed the Democrats support giving illegal immigrants free healthcare in the US because the party needs 'new voters'.

Jeffries hit back at the video, telling MSNBC the deepfake clip was a 'malignant distraction from people who are determined to continue to rip healthcare away'.

Trump then proceeded to add another AI-generated video of Jeffries to his Truth Social, this time where a deepfake Jeffries called the first video 'disgusting'.

Speaking at a White House press briefing on Wednesday (October 1), Vice President Vance said that the president was 'joking', adding that he thinks it's 'funny'.

Vance said: "Oh, I think it’s funny. The president’s joking, and we’re having a good time. You can negotiate in good faith while also poking a little bit of fun at some of the absurdities of the Democrats’ positions, and even poking some fun at the absurdity of the Democrats themselves."

The vice president added: "We’re all trying to do a very important job for the American people. The president of the United States likes to have a little bit of fun when he’s doing it. And I think that’s OK."

Jeffries sat down with CNN recently, where he was asked about the clip and what he thought of Trump's policies.

He said: "He’s an unserious individual. The Republicans are unserious at this point. They have no interest in having a good-faith conversation.

"And all of the erratic, unhinged behavior that we’ve seen…should suggest to the American people who is actually trying to drive us toward a government shutdown."
