Many on the internet are pointing out the same bizarre thing about RFK Jr.'s speech during a vigil for Charlie Kirk over the weekend.
Right-wing activist Kirk was killed while speaking at an event organized by his company, Turning Point USA, last Wednesday (September 10) at Utah Valley University.
Authorities appealed for help in identifying the shooter after a suspect was seen on a rooftop of a building on the college campus.
On Friday (September 12), authorities confirmed they had detained a suspect identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson.

Vigils have been held across the US over the weekend, including at the Kennedy Center in Washington, where many senior Republican figures gathered to pay their respects.
Kennedy was one of those and he said in his speech: "I met Charlie for the first time in July 2001. I went on his podcast, and I think we approached each other with a lot of trepidation at that time, but by the end of the podcast, we were soul mates, spiritual brothers, and friends."

Well, it's worth pointing out that Kirk was born in October 1993, meaning he would have been only eight in 2001.

Kirk started his podcast in 2020, so it's likely the speech was a slip of the tongue from Kennedy and that he probably met the political commentator in 2021.
But with the internet being the internet, many people online picked up on the mistake.
"In 2001, Charlie Kirk was eight years old," one person pointed out, while a second back Kennedy up with: "He meant 2021, people make mistakes."

Kirk's nearest and dearest have spoken out in recent days, including the activist's wife, Erica.

In a livestream filmed from Turning Point USA's office in Phoenix, Erika stood behind a podium beside the chair her husband sat in while filming his podcast.
She thanked first responders who 'struggled heroically to save Charles' life', Kirk's staff, and the White House, as well as Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha, for bringing home Kirk's coffin.

Erica also thanked President Donald Trump and his 'amazing friendship' with Kirk, saying: "Mr President, my husband loved you. And he knew that you loved him too."
She went on to say Kirk was killed because he 'preached a message of patriotism, faith and of God’s merciful love', as she added: "You have no idea the fire that you have ignited within this wife, the cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry."
