A father who was screamed at by a woman who 'stole' an MLB ball off his young son has issued a desperate plea to the general public.

Last Friday (September 5), a match between the Marlins and the Phillies at LoanDepot Park in the MLB made headlines.

Phillies outfielder Harrison Bader sent a home run soaring into the crowd, and as is traditional in any baseball game, if a ball goes into the stands and someone catches it, it's usually theirs to keep.

As the ball soared out of the field over half a dozen fans scrambled to intercept it, but it was ultimately picked up by a dad who gave the ball to his delighted son Lincoln, ten.

A woman, who initially fumbled an attempt to get the ball, marched over to the family and demanded the piece of memorabilia.

The whole incident was caught by the TV cameras, with footage showing the woman claiming: "You took it from me. It was in my hand."

Drew Feltwell, the son's father has been speaking to the press following the viral incident, and has issued a desperate plea to the public.

He told USA Today: "Please don't do anything to that lady. Leave it alone. You know, somebody knows her and can talk to her, that's different. But God, I don't want people breaking in their house and stuff like that. The internet already messed her up pretty good."

Previously, Feltwell spoke about what the woman said to him during the confrontation at the match.

He told Fox Sports: "I can’t even repeat that on air. She was very vulgar. Screaming right in my ear that, you know, lotta bad words and, ‘That’s my ball.’

"That was her section, and trying to tell me she had the right to that ball. The screaming and yelling kinda got to us, and I just wanted her to go away. So, that’s how she got the ball."

Feltwell handed the ball over to the woman, which left a bad taste in everyone's mouth after learning it was Lincoln's tenth birthday that day.

After witnessing the controversial incident unfold, the Phillies took it upon themselves to make things right by giving the birthday boy a prize pack containing an assortment of gifts and goodies.

The sweet moment was captured on camera, with a rep heard saying in a video posted to social media: "We brought you a cool little goodie bag."

The women who 'stole' the ball has not been identified, while one woman spoke out after being mistaken for the fan.
