Michelle Obama has explained why she's 'so glad' she and husband Barack Obama never had a son.

Access into the Obamas' lives had been somewhat restricted, but that has all changed since Barack, Michelle and the children left the White House in 2017.

Michelle, in particular, has appeared on various podcasts in recent months, discussing family life, her time in the White House, and what it's like being married to a former POTUS.

The Obamas' two children, Malia, 26 and Sasha, 24, have also forged their own careers since leaving Washington, D.C., some eight years ago.

And Michelle has spoken recently about how she's pleased with how her family turned out, citing how a son would have had similarities to his dad Barack.

Speaking on her IMO podcast which she hosts with brother Craig Robinson, Michelle hit back at a suggestion by Hot 97 radio star Angie Martinez that the Obamas 'should have threw a boy in the mix'.

The 61-year-old instantly hit back: "I’m so glad I didn’t have a boy, because he would have been a Barack Obama."

“Baby Barack! It would have been amazing,” Martinez quipped back, to which Michelle said: "No, I woulda felt for him."

Robinson pitched in: "She just borrowed our boys," referencing his two sons Austin and Aaron.

Speculation surrounding a potential divorce has seemingly gone on for months, but Michelle has hit back at those rumors recently.

The former attorney has finally put the gossip to bed on Instagram, sharing a throwback pic of the married couple and their two children on Sunday (June 15) to mark Father's Day.

In the post, Michelle said her husband has 'always been there' for the family and tipped her hat to him on Father's Day.

She penned: "I love looking back at photos like this of when our girls were younger.

"@BarackObama has always been there for us no matter what — even when it felt like the weight of the world was on his shoulders. We’ve always been so grateful.

"To Barack and all the dads and father-figures celebrating today, Happy Father’s Day!"

Michelle has slammed divorce rumors directly on various podcasts, last month stating that 'everyone would know' if they were separating while on The Diary of a CEO.

"If I were having problems with my husband, everybody would know about it," she told Steven Bartlett, adding: "I would be problem solving in public. I'm not a martyr."

While Michelle and Barrack may have left the White House a long time ago, intrigue surrounding their lives looks set to remain.
