After doing a favor for his parents, a man came across the most heartwarming gift by pure accident.

Tim King took to social media to reveal what his parents had got him for Christmas.

However, this year was particularly interesting since the gift was 46 years old and just happened to be on the inside of a wall of his childhood home in Lombard, Illinois.

Over the festive period the 53 year-old decided to help his parents out by renovating their bathroom. After knocking down a wall, he found something that was more than a little unexpected.

A Disney-themed wrapped Christmas present that had his name on it.

Speaking to People about the discovery, King explained: “We took out a medicine cabinet before we drywalled, and I thought, 'I’d better just look in there to make sure nothing’s back there'. And then there it was!”

King, who owns his own construction service, shared the moment on his Instagram page on December 27 and the video has since gone viral.

As you can imagine, hordes of people demanded he opened and quiz his parents on what they thought it could be.

One user pleaded: "Open it up."

Another added: "Okay well, two questions. How did it get inside the wall and what toy is in there?"

While someone else commented: "WHAT'S IN THE BOX!?!?"

However, King said when he asked his mom about it she had no memory of buying the present at all. Though she did confirm that they would hide presents in the attic and the gift likely slipped down a crevice to get stuck in the wall.

In a follow up video, King revealed what he was meant to get the year the present was bought - a box of vintage Matchbox Thunder Jet model airplanes.

Based on the toy’s estimated release date, the gift was probably purchased around 1978, when King was just six years old.

King noted it sparked a wave of good-natured jokes between himself and his family.

He said: “I have one sister, and my mom has always been very picky about getting us the exact same amount of gifts.

“So we’ve been joking that I’ve been screwed out of one present for 46 years.”

Social media users insisted King not only save the present but also the wrapping paper, noting it would likely be one of the greatest presents he’ll receive from his family and comes with a heart-warming story.
