Felon who attacked judge after she denied his probation speaks out for the first time

The felon has spoken out about attacking the judge

The felon who was recorded throwing himself at a Las Vegas judge has spoken out about the incident.

On Wednesday (January 3) defendant Deobra Delone Redden was set to be sentenced by District Judge Mary Kay Holthus at the Regional Justice Center in Las Vegas, US.

After the judge denied treating the felon with any leniency, he ran across the courtroom and leapt at the judge, attacking her - the shocking moment caught on video and quickly going viral.

Warning: Distressing footage:

Redden was in court to face sentencing after pleading guilty to a reduced charged of attempted battery causing substantial bodily harm in November, 2023.

He's already served prison time in Nevada on a domestic battery conviction, yet he asked the judge for leniency when he appeared in court earlier this week, his attorney requesting he only be sentenced to a period of probation.

However, in light of his previous offences, Judge Holthus denied the request and said the defendant was looking at time behind bars.

Before the judge could read out the sentence, Redden charged towards the bench and propelled himself towards Judge Holthus shouting 'Nah, f**k that b***h,' leading to officers and court officials quickly rushing over to restrain him.

Numerous court officials and officers got involved in the altercation.

Redden was detained by officials and is now facing multiple new felony charges including battery on a protect person.

From inside a holding cell near the courtroom that he was taken to after the attack, 8 News Now reports the felon told an officer the judge 'has it out for [him]',' branding her 'evil'.

Court documents also state him telling authorities: "I'm sorry you had to see that."

Redden allegedly slammed Judge Holthus' head against the wall, hit her once in the head and pulled out part of her hair during the altercation, court documents state.

The judge later went to hospital after experiencing some pain despite initially being seen to by someone at the justice center.

As of yesterday (January 3), Clark County Chief Judge Jerry Wiese said Judge Holthus remains 'sore and stiff but is thankful that this was not more severe'.

Judge Holthus wasn't the only one injured in the altercation, marshal Shane Brandon requiring 25 stitches for a cut on his face and law clerk Michael Lasso also sustained some minor hand abrasions, the New York Post reports.

Judge Wiese reflected: "This is a very unique situation, that as far as I know never happened before, with somebody Supermanning over a judicial bench."
