As registration for the LA28 Olympic Games opens today (Wednesday January 14), here's how to maximize your chances of securing tickets.
It might be two and a half years away, but seeing an Olympic sport in the flesh could very much become a reality for some.
The next Olympics run from July 14 to July 30 2028, featuring new and returning sport such as flag football, lacrosse, cricket, baseball and softball.
LA28 marks the third Olympics hosted in Los Angeles and is set to be held at existing venues including the LA Memorial Coliseum and SoFi Stadium.

Some events will take place in southern California, while both canoeing and softball will instead unfold in Oklahoma.
Some 14 million tickets across more than 800 events - including the famed opening and closing ceremonies - will be up for grabs when tickets go on sale in April.
To be in with a chance, however, fans must register for the LA28 lottery ballot.

Going live at 7am PT, fans have until March 18 to sign up for the Olympics ticket ballot.
To sign up, simply create a profile on the registration website.
You'll then be entered into the draw for an opportunity to buy tickets during a randomly drawn time slot.
Those who are successful will be informed of their time slot up to 48 hours in advance.

Ticket prices start from $28 and early registrants have no advantage over others, according to the LA28 website.
Those living in certain areas of California and Oklahoma are able to access an early locals sale, however. More on that next...

Local residents in the Los Angeles and Oklahoma City areas will get a shot at an early ticket-buying window if they register for the draw by 18 March.
The locals-only access runs between April 2 and 6 and applies to people living near venues hosting events like softball and canoe slalom.
To qualify, your credit card billing address must match an eligible zip code in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino or Ventura counties in California, or Canadian or Cleveland counties in Oklahoma.
The first general ticket sale opens on April 9 and runs until April 19.
If you perpetually have your phone on 'do not disturb,' then it's time to change that.

Make sure your notifications are switched on - to loud if needed - so you don't miss the e-mail containing your LA28 time slot.
Once received, set an alarm or calendar reminder for the time and date so you don't forget.
It sounds simple, but is easily forgotten!

Lotteries are a numbers game after all, so the more people trying to secure tickets, the better your chances.
If you've found yourself in charge of sorting tickets for your entire family or friend group, then don't be shy when it comes to delegating.
Ask a few more people from your group sign up so when the LA28 sale comes along, you can buy tickets for each other.
...but who you know!

If you have friends or family who qualify for the locals' early access sale, then use them to your advantage.
Those with addresses in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino or Ventura counties in California or Canadian or Cleveland counties in Oklahoma are eligible for the locals sale.
