Warning: This article contains discussion of rape which some readers may find distressing.

Jeffrey Epstein’s obsession with a certain flower that can turn people into a ‘zombie’ has been revealed within the latest batch of Epstein Files.

Epstein’s long history of exploiting minors for sex trafficking purposes, committing seedy deals with high-standing people, and engaging in lewd acts has been documented extensively within the three million files released by the US Department of Justice.

From images of sex toys, to being surrounded by young women, Epstein - who died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges - didn’t appear to shy away from letting people know of his interests, even covering his New York home in artwork of naked people.

However, what may have been swept under the rug in the midst of his horrific crimes was his fascination with the angel trumpet flower – a highly toxic but beautiful flower native to South America.

One email from 2014 shows Epstein emailing someone by the name of Ann Rodriguez, where he talked of having the plants in his 'nursery'.

He wrote: “Ask Chris about my trumpet plants at nursery [SIC]?”

The disgraced financier could then be seen having been sent an email about the plant, nicknamed ‘Devil’s Breath’, on January 27, 2015.

The email was forwarded to Epstein by photographer Antoine Verglas, containing a link to a Daily Mail article titled: “Scopolamine: Powerful drug growing in the forests of Colombia that eliminates free will.”

The article was written and published in May 2012, stating how the plant ‘eliminates free will and can wipe the memory of its victims' thanks to Scopolamine, the main active ingredient of the plant that has been known to be used to treat motion sickness.

Apparently, it turns victims into ‘zombies and blocks memories from forming’ which then means that 'even after the drug wears off, victims have no recollection as to what happened'.

Basically, it’s a natural date-rape drug.

Then, an email was sent to his inbox in 2022, which was an alleged 'victim impact statement,' of someone named Joseph Manzaro recounting his experience of being drugged in 2014.

Angel’s Trumpet, or Brugmansia, can be found in the Andes, where ingestion of its flowers or a tea brewed from them can cause an alkaloid-induced central nervous system anticholinergic syndrome, per the National Library of Medicine.

It states symptoms such as ‘fever, delirium, hallucinations, agitation, and persistent memory disturbances’ can be expected.

As can things like muscle weakness, a dry mouth, a rapid pulse, elevated temperature, hot, dry skin, and urinary retention, reports Sharp Health.

Scarily, it can also cause symptoms of psychosis, and even death.

A study claimed: “Severe intoxication may cause flaccid paralysis, convulsions, and death. Treatment with intravenous physostigmine reverses the toxic effects of Angel's Trumpet.”

As of right now, it seems like this might be the last of the files handed to the public, despite lawmakers calling for full transparency.
