Donald Trump has revealed new plans to address the US’ drug crisis that could result in alleged smugglers killed on land in shocking comments.

The Trump administration has received some backlash for their handling of alleged ‘narco terrorists' accused of smuggling drugs into the US.

The US has been taking action against these individuals, suspected as being from Venezuela, with force and has so far killed around 37 people in strikes in open water.

During a new press conference, Trump implied that his government would be taking more drastic actions against these suspected drug smugglers in the near future.

This has created tension and a strained relationship between the US and Venezuela and sparked fears that a massive conflict could arise as a result.

In a shock announcement, during a speech made at the White House, Trump claimed that he would simply start killing people.

He also did not clarify whether he would get permission from elected officials as part of his escalation.

When asked by a reporter why he would not ask Congress for a declaration of war, he replied: "I think we're just gonna kill people. Okay? We're gonna kill them. They're gonna be, like, dead."

He added: “The land is going to be next. And we may go to the Senate; we may go to the Congress and tell them about it, but I can’t imagine they’d have any problem with it."

Trump has previously defended these acts and argued that the US knew for certain that these individuals were drug smugglers.

Speaking after one attack, he said: “We attacked a submarine, and that was a drug-carrying submarine built specifically for the transportation of massive amounts of drugs.

“This was not an innocent group of people. I don't know too many people who have submarines, and that was an attack on a drug-carrying, loaded submarine."

It is not clear how the US would kill these suspected drug smugglers on land, but reports have also circulated that Trump’s government has considered using an elite aviation unit.

The group being considered is reportedly known as the ‘night stalker’ regiment and are part of the Army's 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment.

According to a New York Times report, a US official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that those part of the helicopter squadron have been flying training missions for a possible military action inside Venezuela.

In addition to this, the Trump administration has confirmed that covert CIA action in Venezuela has been authorized.
