President Donald Trump has been trolled over the latest global tariff decision following the Supreme Court's ruling on Friday (February 20).

In the ruling, the Supreme Court said that Trump had exceeded his authority by imposing the tariffs, something which is reserved for a national emergency.

Following the 6-3 majority ruling, Trump said he was 'ashamed' of certain members of the court, before going on to announce a new global tariff.

Trump revealed at the press conference that he will now be imposing a worldwide tariff of 10 percent on all goods being brought into the country.

"We have alternatives - great alternatives and we'll be a lot stronger for it," he said, before revealing that the White House would be relying on a never-used law known as Section 122 of the 1974 Trade Act to reimpose some form of tariff on imports.

However, on Saturday, Trump announced on Truth Social that this would be increased to 15 percent, which is the maximum allowed.

"Based on a thorough, detailed, and complete review of the ridiculous, poorly written, and extraordinarily anti-American decision on Tariffs issued yesterday, after MANY months of contemplation, by the United States Supreme Court, please let this statement serve to represent that I, as President of the United States of America, will be, effective immediately, raising the 10% Worldwide Tariff on Countries, many of which have been 'ripping' the U.S. off for decades, without retribution (until I came along!), to the fully allowed, and legally tested, 15% level," he wrote.

As the world has been reacting to the developments, French president Emmanuel Macron weighed in, telling journalists at the annual agricultural salon in Paris: "It is not bad to have a Supreme Court, and therefore, the rule of law.

"It is good to have power and counterweights to power in democracies."

Meanwhile, Governor of California Gavin Newsom shared his views on the decision.

Over on X, the Gavin Newsom Press Office account shared an AI-generated image of Trump dressed as a pig, crying over a 'tariffs rejected' ruling.

"Poor piggy," the caption reads.

Meanwhile, on his own X account, Newsom added: "Donald Trump just announced a NEW 15% TAX on the American people.

"He does not care about you."

Newsom also described Trump as 'unhinged' during a press conference on Friday, adding: "Donald Trump is increasingly unhinged. Even his hand-picked Supreme Court said what he was doing was lawless. The tariffs were illegal from day one."
