Donald Trump has issued a response after polls revealed how Americans currently feel about him.

In the five months since his second term as POTUS began, Trump has made a number of changes, including his controversial clamp down on immigration that led to protests in Los Angeles.

It seems that not everyone approves of his policies, which also include his stance of imposing higher tariffs and curbing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) frameworks.

Indeed, a new poll released by Quinnipiac University on last Wednesday (June 11) revealed that just 38 percent of Americans approve of Trump's work as president, the lowest rating in 80 years, according to ABC News.

Americans were asked to respond on topics including the economy, immigration, the Ukraine-Russia war, his former buddy Elon Musk, and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which the Tesla founder once led, and the numbers haven't been very positive for Trump's second presidency.

But this clearly doesn't seem to have deterred the POTUS, who posted that his poll numbers were 'great' on his social media platform.

Writing on Truth Social on Wednesday (June 18) Trump said: “Great Poll Numbers For Trump!”

Shortly before sharing the comment, the president posted a link to polling by InsiderAdvantage that suggested he had a +10 job approval rating, which may or may not be an example of cherry-picking.

Meanwhile, the study showed that only 38 percent approved on Trump’s stance on trade, and immigration, one of the policies Trump has usually polled well for, saw a dip, with 43 percent saying they approved on how he has handled it so far.

Just 34 percent said they approved of how Trump has handled the Ukraine-Russia war, with polling analyst Tim Malloy explaining in a statement: “As the Russia-Ukraine war grinds through its third year, Americans make it clear they have little appetite for the way the Trump administration is handling the situation."

People were also asked about Musk and his involvement with the administration, to which Malloy analysed: "Though Musk isn't as popular with Republicans as he once was, he and DOGE get a hearty high five from a healthy majority of Republicans."

Meanwhile, Trump’s approval rating fell for the fifth consecutive month in the latest Harvard CAPS/Harris poll on Monday (June 16), declining one point from 47 percent to 46 percent since the previous month. He remains popular among Republican, male, 25 to 44-year-old white and rural voters, and his job approval is strongest on immigration (49 percent).
