Donald Trump had to apologize to Charlie Kirk's wife Erika as he reflected on ‘forgiveness’ for the commentator’s killer.
Kirk’s funeral on Sunday (September 21) was attended by thousands of supporters and many took to the stage at State Farm Stadium in Arizona to issue kind words about the 31-year-old right-wing activist.
Kirk’s wife, Erika, gave an emotional speech and referenced the teachings of the Christian bible in regards to those who do you harm.
She explained why she 'forgives' the murderer and quoted the teachings of Jesus regarding forgiving the assailant responsible for her husband's death.

Kirk was shot dead while speaking at a Utah Valley University event on September 10.
The FBI has currently arrested and charged 22-year-old Tyler Robinson from Utah who they believe is responsible for the murder.

The charges include aggravated murder, two counts of obstruction of justice, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, two counts of witness tampering, and commission of a violent offense in the presence of a child.

It's possible that the 22-year-old may also face federal charges but authorities have not yet issued clarification on whether this will happen.
During the speech, Erika said her husband was trying to 'help save young men, just like the one who took his life'.
She added: "That young man, that young man.
"On the cross, our savior said: 'Father, forgive them for they not know what they do'.

"That man, that young man, I forgive him. I forgive him because it was what Christ did, and it is what Charlie would do.
"The answer to hate is not hate. The answer we know from the gospel is love and always love, love for our enemies and love for those who persecute us."
However, Donald Trump made it clear that he didn’t feel this way.

He apologized to Erika as he said 'he hated his opponents' and didn’t want the best for them.
Speaking about Kirk’s message that he disagreed with, Trump said: "He did not hate his opponents. He wanted the best for them.
"That's where I disagreed with Charlie. I hate my opponent, and I don't want the best for them.

"I'm sorry. I am sorry, Erika, but now Erika can talk to me, and the whole group, and maybe they can convince me that that's not right, but I can't stand my opponent."
