Lawyers have reflected on the Coldplay scandal that got everyone talking about the CEO and his employee getting cozy together at their concert.

Last week, two concertgoers caused a stir when they were caught on the jumbotron while at Coldplay’s performance in Boston.

This wouldn’t normally be such a big deal but the pair acted like they really didn’t want to be seen and the video quickly went viral on social media.

The pair were later identified as Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and chief people officer Kristin Cabot and both individuals are reportedly married to other people, hence the wild reaction.

The New York-based tech company later announced that Byron would be stepping down as CEO and that they were launching an investigation into the matter.

However, some people questioned why they also didn’t announce Cabot was leaving the company as well.

According to a New York Post report, lawyers have weighed on whether this still could happen and what might be going on behind the scenes.

Attorney Nicole Brenecki simply stated: “In a real-world big company, you can’t just fire someone because the headlines are ugly.

“There are likely contracts, internal investigations, and legal issues involved.

“If HR greenlit what happened with Coldplay, and there is a supporting paper trail, heads will likely roll. It just might take a few more days before the ax drops.”

Another employment attorney, William Cafaro also reflected on whether Brenecki’s announcement of leaving the company could be imminent.

He told the Post: “Like if you were to look for a picture of ’cause’ [for firing] in the dictionary, it would show a picture of the head of HR having a public affair with the CEO of the company.”

He added that he finds it ‘difficult to conceive’ how she could continue in her current role and said at the moment she and the company are likely wrangling over an exit deal.

Attorney Douglas Wigdor also noted that there may be details of the investigation and situation that may not yet be in the public.

Additionally, the results of the internal probe could determine what the company ultimately does with Cabot.

Wigdor added: “Maybe there’s more to the story from her.

“That’s definitely possible about how it came to be that they’re at this concert and they’re embracing. It’s a short video so it’s hard to know what exactly is going on.”
