Police have arrested a man in the wake of a horrifying crash in which six people were killed.

On Sunday, July 21, four adults and two children died when the car they were travelling in along the A61 near to Wakefield in northern England collided with a motorbike.

Four-year-old Lillie Morgan-Roller and her nine-year-old sister Rubie were both killed in the tragedy, alongside their parents Shannen Morgan, 30, and Shane Roller, 33.

Motorcyclists Christopher and Janine Barton were also killed in the crash.

Earlier today, police confirmed that a man had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and remains in custody.

West Yorkshire Police have also issued an appeal for information for anyone may have seen a grey Porsche 911 in the area of the crash.

The appeal from the force's Major Collision Enquiry Team urged anyone with dash cam footage or who may have seen the vehicle to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Steven Suggitt said in a statement: “I would like to appeal for anyone who may have seen this grey Porsche 911 being driven on the roads around the south of Wakefield or north of Barnsley to please contact us.

"I would also urge anyone who has dashcam, doorbell or CCTV footage of this car, that may assist our investigation, to please contact us.”

Shannen and Shane's eldest daughter Poppie has been left orphaned following the crash, which killed her parents and her two younger siblings.

Family friend Paul Hepple described her as 'a bright and resilient young girl, known for her infectious smile and kind heart' in an appeal on GoFundMe to support her.

Hepple also revealed that he is looking after Poppie following the tragedy.

Donations on the page have already passed £300,000 (just under $388,000) in less than 48 hours, despite originally only hoping to raise £3,000 (around $3,878).

On the post it is clarified that 'every penny' will go towards securing Poppie's future, and Mr Hepple said he had been 'overwhelmed' by the public's generosity.

The son of Christopher, 56, and Janine, 48, the couple of the motorbike, has also paid tribute to his parents, calling them 'a loving, caring mum and dad who always put me before everything else'.

It was also revealed that the couple had only recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary together.

A police investigation into the crash continues. To donate to Poppie's GoFundMe, click here.
