People baffled after spotting bizarre sight out of plane window

"Wow I've never seen this! So beautiful. Looks like confetti."

A TikToker has taken to social media in confusion after looking out of a plane's window to see a bizarre but 'beautiful' sight.

When you don't have someone leaning right over your lap and trying to get a snap of whatever sight lies outside the plane, normally, being in a window seat is a pretty enjoyable experience.

However, if you looked out of a plane and saw what appeared to be millions of pieces of 'confetti' scattered below, it would be fair to start stressing out that you'd woken up in a new Black Mirror episode or perhaps a scene from Coraline. Prepare for a surreal experience:

TikToker Brad Stewart - who goes by the username @brad..stewart1572 - took to the platform earlier this month on 9 December to share a video of his view from his window seat.

The video shows a dark night sky, but the ground littered with what looks like thousands of sticky notes or pieces of confetti.

Stewart's caption reads: "Can somebody please tell me what these are? Flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Melbourne."

Either simply very intrigued or slightly panicked, Stewart adds: "SOMEBODY HELP ME PLEASE."

And sure enough, it hasn't taken long for other TikTokers to swoop in with suggestions.

What do you think the sticky note-like patterns could be?

One user wrote: "Post-it notes."

"It’s a piece of paper they move by the window so it looks like you’re flying," another added.

A third wrote: "I didn’t even read the caption and I thought it was confettis on the bar floor."

And a fourth commented: "It’s giant confetti plants… once the confetti is ready to pick they have to then cut it into the little pieces we see."

Before we all trip out too much, what actually are the shapes?

Well, according to many users, the view actually shows a series of 'dragon fruit farms'.

According to dragon fruit farmer Gary Lee, the plant flowers at night and much of the farming takes place from November to June.

He tells ABC News: "I normally vacuum of a night and collect pollen and then in the morning we go out hand pollinating with an old make up brush and a container of pollen."

This explains why the lights are on in the farms at night and why Stewart spotted them from the plane.

However some people still can't quite get their head round it.

A user said: "My brain can't do dragon fruit farms. lol. I see confetti."

"Could be dragon fruit farms or could be the world trying to render ur fast travel speed," a second wrote.

Although, a final resolved: "Wow I've never seen this! So beautiful, looks like confetti. Adding a dragon fruit farm to my bucket list."
