The average cruise ship is said to have the capacity of holding around 3,000 passengers and, say you're on the cruise for two weeks, it's inevitable that at least one of your fellow guests will do something to annoy you...
Cruises often come with rules; for example, Norwegian Cruise Line recently announced that it was clamping down on its dress code for passengers.
For some of the restaurants on board the cruise ship, guests are now prohibited from wearing tank tops, hoodies, robes, and ripped jeans, as well as caps and hats.
On top of proper rules, there's a lot of unwritten rules when it comes to going on a cruise ship in the hopes that you don't p*ss off your fellow passengers.

One person who wanted to make sure they wouldn't rub anyone up the wrong way is a first-time cruiser who took to Reddit to ask people about 'common rude things people do on the ship' that they should be wary of.

They penned: "Are there common annoyances or rude things people do, to watch for and adapt to while onboard cruise ships? What I mean by this are things guests do that are typically rude to other folks."
One answer to their question that's been upvoted 94 times is about people's dining etiquette...
"Take food with their hands from the buffet," somebody noted as one of their annoyances.
Agreeing, another person penned: "Yes, this is gross. People will completely bypass the tongs just to grab a hamburger bun."
A different person shared: "I saw a guy take bacon with his hands and I said something but he didn’t care. Neither did the RC employee standing there." This was branded as 'dis-gus-ting' by another Redditor (and I certainly agree).
"And alternate licking their fingers and picking up the serving utensils. Disgusting," added somebody else.
Another bugbear people discussed on the thread was elevator etiquette.
One person penned: "People can be awful with the elevators, I always recommend just taking the stairs if you are physically able. Plus you work off a few of those buffet calories."
"I've had people shut the elevator door in my face because they couldn't be bothered to wait a few more seconds," shared a second.
Echoing similar sentiments about the taking the stairs, somebody else wrote: "Take the stairs whenever you are able! That's what my wife and I do. It help to avoid elevator chaos and reduces buffet guilt. You will thank yourself."
