Kendrick Lamar was seen wearing an 'A' chain during his Super Bowl halftime performance, and audiences were freaking out at the potential meaning behind the accessory.

The rapper headlined proceedings at the interval - and like any good Super Bowl performance, it was full of talking points.

While the main action was on the field of play as the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs, the halftime show is often making the headlines, and this year is no different.

During the performance, Lamar performed his track 'Not Like Us' - the same Grammy-winning track that has caused controversy due to brutal references to fellow rapper, Drake.

Following the release of 'Not Like Us', Drake sued Universal Music Group (UMG), which represents both Drake and Lamar, on defamatory offences.

In one line of the track, Lamar makes reference to Drake's 2021 album as he says: "Certified Lover Boy? Certified pedophile."

While Lamar is not named in the lawsuit, the filing accuses Universal of choosing 'corporate greed over the safety and well-being of its artists' by releasing the track.

Fans on social media believe Lamar made a reference to the ongoing beef during his halftime Super Bowl performance, in particular with his 'A' chain.

As per a Twitter post by the Sun, fans are now convinced as to the meaning of the chain.

Fans believe Lamar's massive 'A' chain referenced 'a minor', which is a direct lyric in his diss track.

"Rewatched the performance and just realized Kendrick’s necklace……is in the shape of the chord a minor 😟 this man is a f****** genius, I can’t," one fan penned on Twitter.

"Kendrick getting the entire Super Bowl screaming 'a minor' with Serena Williams dancing has to feel like a shot gun blast to Drake’s chest," a second added.

While a third remarked: "The Grammys AND the Super Bowl screaming 'A MINOR'. Kendrick wants this in the history books."

Before the chaos of the halftime show last night, Drake's team shared a new statement on the case.

They said: "UMG is masquerading as a champion of artistic freedom by calling its actions merely ‘entertainment,’ but there is nothing entertaining about pedophilia or child abuse in the real world.

"We are confident that the evidence we will ultimately present at trial—including information we’ve already learned and continue to receive since filing the lawsuit—will expose UMG’s gross prioritization of its own corporate profits and executive bonuses over its exclusively signed artists’ well-being and the truth.”

In a statement provided to The Independent, UMG stated 'these claims [are] untrue'.
