People have been flooding to social media in disbelief over Polish athlete Aleksandra Mirosław's world record-breaking climb.

The 2024 Paris Olympics kicked off on July 26 and in recent days in particular, world records are being broken left, right and centre.

Swedish pole vaulter Armand 'Mondo' Duplantis flew over the bar breaking a new world record height and now climber Aleksandra Miroslaw has broken not just one but two records while taking part not even in the finals, but in the women's speed climbing qualifying round which took place yesterday (Monday, August 5).

At Le Bourget Climbing Venue, Miroslaw was up against South Africa's Aniya Holder and the Polish climber broke her own record not just once but twice.

The world record for the fastest speed climb was set by the athlete back in September 2023 - a speed of 6.24 seconds.

However, when Miroslaw took to the 15m-high walls at the Paris Olympics, her first climb saw her reach the top in an impressive 6.21 seconds as she scaled Lane B.

And barely 20 minutes later, her second climb up Lane A saw her set an astounding new world record of just 6.06 seconds, causing the live audience to erupt into cheers.

And it's not taken long for viewers to flood to social media in awe of the feat too.

One Twitter user said: "She's so insanely good that it doesn't look real. Incredible."

"Jfc this doesn’t even look real, this might be the most impressive thing ive ever seen," another added.

A third commented: "Looks like she is flying."

"Apparently we got ourselves an ideal casting for MCU's Spiderwoman," a fourth wrote.

And a fifth resolved: "Seriously people, #SportClimbing is the best sport nobody’s watching at the Olympics.

"Was up late one night and checked out the Olympics stream for Tokyo and was instantly hooked. Just have a look at the speed climbing first and see how you like it."

In the next round that followed, Miroslaw climbed the wall within 6.10 seconds and knocked out Holder.

She's now set to take part in the quarter finals tomorrow (August 7) and hopefully the semi-finals and finals which take place later on the same day too.

Miroslaw is up against the US' Emma Hunt, China's Zhou Yafei and Deng Lijuan, Indonesia's Desak Made Made Rita Kusuma Dewi and Rajiah Sallsabillah, Spain's Leslie Romero and fellow Polish climber Aleksandra Kalucka.
