Couple made major mistake as they ripped 'screen' off their new smart TV while filming unboxing

They're not the only people to have done it, either...

A couple realized they'd majorly messed up after peeling the protective cover off their brand new TV, only to have ripped off the screen instead.

Since the dawn of America's Funniest Home Videos, we've been capturing people unintentionally doing silly things - and then collectively laughing at them. (Ok, with them...)

And with the rise of the internet and social media, there's less chance of our stupid mistakes being kept private.

A video can go viral in the blink of an eye, with millions of people having seen us f**k up.

When TikToker Kelsey - who goes by @kumalashstudio online - and her husband accidentally ruined their 'brand new Samsung TV,' she hesitated about sharing the footage online, but decided to anyway.

Since, some 7.8 million people have viewed the video.

It sees the lash technician explain how she bought the TV after moving to Spain and assumed it would come with a 'little protective plastic on it that you need to take off'.

"So we started peeling it off and we did not realize that it was the actual screen we were peeling off," she said.

As Kelsey and her boyfriend peeled the plastic, they noticed it revealed a blank, white screen underneath - taking away the images and text that had appeared while the plastic was still in tact.

By that point, however, the TikToker noted they were 'already half-way there' and the TV was already 'ruined'.

It's a devastating mistake to make, but Kelsey isn't alone.

A quick Google search of her situation brought up 'whole threads of people' also accidentally doing the same thing.

"Here's the TV without the screen on. It looks super nice and clear and shiny," she said, though obviously one of the main things you're looking for in a TV is an actual picture.

Fellow TikTok users ran to the comments to share their thoughts.

While some questioned Kelsey's logic, others were more sympathetic.

One asked: "But why did you keep peeling it?" as a second commented: "Girl.. what how did you not realise?"

But a third reckoned: "They shouldn't make a screen that's so easy to peel off," as a fourth agreed: "Why is it so easy to rip off anyways."

Another weighed in: "That’s not the entire screen. It’s just the polarizing film on top," before suggesting: "Stick it on a pair of glasses and you have a private TV, no one else can see."

A handful of others pointed out that 'no TVs' come with a 'protective film' anyway.

Fortunately, Kelsey provided an update: she'd got in touch with Samsung who were 'cool' about the whole thing, and even offered to replace the TV.

After hearing how things turned out, one TikToker resolved: "Samsung is so nice for replacing that though."

UNILAD has contacted Samsung for comment.
