Netflix fans are still praising a sci-fi drama with a 'perfect ending' which was saved from cancellation by Netflix back in 2022.

We all know by now that the streaming giant can pretty much make or break a series.

It's seen major success with 'rescued' shows like Lucifer and Cobra Kai, but also some epic failures, like when it attempted to revive Arrested Development for two more 'dumpster fire' seasons.

While not everything Netflix touches turns to gold, the streamer saw resounding success when it saved a popular NBC series and turned it into one of its most-watched TV shows.

The supernatural drama follows a group of people who are on board a flight which goes missing.

After eventually finding their way back home, the passengers discover that they've actually been missing for five whole years.

The series then follows their lives as they try to pick up the pieces and reintegrate into society.

The show first aired on NBC between 2018 and 2021 for three seasons, with the network confirming it wouldn't be renewed for a fourth.

But months later, Netflix swooped in and bought the rights to the show, renewing it for another season.

The show in question, if you haven't already guessed, is Manifest.

Since joining Netflix and the release of its fourth and final season in June 2023, Manifest has gone on to become one of its most-watched shows in the entire world.

Variety reported in 2022 that the first few episodes of Manifest's fourth season racked up a massive 57.1 million hours viewed in the first three days that they were available to stream.

And the proof is also in the pudding - or rather, the critics' reviews. The show's first season earned a 56 percent score over on Rotten Tomatoes, while its Netflix-produced season finale was awarded a solid 88 percent.

Fans also rated the finale higher than the first season, giving season four 70 percent compared to the debut run of episode's 63 percent.

One viewer wrote: "Compelling show. Perfect ending," as a second praised its 'beautiful conclusion,' adding: "The ending is what it should have been... it is still beautiful and emotional to watch. It shouldn't be any other way."

A third said: "Just finished watching the finale and man this has been a journey. This show is so good and criminally underrated.

"From the first episode where we are introduced to the cast to then seeing them grow and work together and have an end so satisfying was just amazing."

Others claimed the show's ending was 'emotional' watch, with viewers admitting to 'crying so much' throughout the final stretch of episodes.

All four season of Manifest are available to stream now on Netflix in the US, while seasons one, two and four are available in the UK.
