New study claims young singles are giving up on dating for this disturbing reason

Dating is certainly getting more difficult for some

Dating has always come with its challenges but some young people are giving up altogether because of this one reason.

Attempting to find love is something most people can relate to, having success in that endeavor is a different story however.

But like many generations before, the youngsters of today are still trying to find 'the one' by going on dates after they’ve found someone they like the look of.

With that said, there appears to be one issue that makes this whole thing a little more challenging than it has previously been.

Now before you go off ready to blame the phones or the age old scapegoat of video games, its not got nothing to do with that, according to a new study.

In fact, this issue has been something to be wary of for anyone who has ever tried dating, but it's said to be causing major problems for Gen Z and Millennials.

That thing is simply, money.

A new study from DatingNews.com and the Kinsey Institute claimed that young people are going on a lot less dates.

In fact, 43 percent of young US singles are going on fewer dates, 37 percent are cutting back on dating in general and 33 percent blame the economy for their hesitation around finding love.

In short, doing anything traditionally tied to dating is a touch too expensive.

The study also found how different generations are feeling the financial pressure when it comes to committing to a relationship as well.

They found that this hesitation drops with age and younger generations are most likely delay committing due to financial instability, debt and housing costs compared to older generations.

50 percent of Gen Z were hesitant, compared to 37 percent of Millennials, 30 percent of Gen X and 20 percent of Boomers.

Explaining the data, the study said: “Hesitancy drops off gradually with age. Boomers are far more likely to say they are unaffected by economic factors than their counterparts. That’s probably due to their higher financial stability or lack of desire to seek committed relationships altogether.”

Dr Justin Lehmiller, Senior Research Fellow at the Kinsey Institute and one of the study’s lead authors, also commented on how this has impacted the youth of today.

They said: “Inflation and the current economic climate are having a particularly pronounced effect on how Gen Z is approaching relationships.

“It appears that some young adults are putting their love lives on hold while they get on more solid financial footing, whereas others appear to see marriage and cohabitation as a pathway to greater financial security.”
