A man on TikTok has spoken about a rather ruthless conversation he had with a woman after he told her how tall he was.

When it comes to dating, a lot of people have their preferences, some justified some a lot less justified, but we all have them.

But 35-year-old man, Ian, has spoken to TikTok about the difficulties he has had, namely when it comes to telling women he 5 foot 6.

Speaking on his TikTok channel, ian3snacks, found the lighter side of an interaction he had when matching with a woman who is taller than him.

Ian, a musician, filmmaker with autism said he prefers to be upfront about his height when it comes to dating apps because he is aware that it can be an issue for some women.

Speaking to Newsweek, he said: “I am not one to woo you with smooth pickup lines or play games. I don't have the jawline for that kind of approach.

"Transparency, wit and kindness tend to be where I shine a little easier, so I try to play to my strengths."

In his video, Ian explained that he opened the chat and tried to put his first foot forward before ultimately being slightly humiliated.

He said: “I say, 'Hey, you know, you're stunning. Did you see that I am only 5'6?’"

“She messaged me back and said, ‘no I didn’t see that, do you care if I am taller than you or even if I wear heels on a date.’

“I think she thought I was going to get insecure and bail out so she wouldn’t have to be the bad guy but I hit her with the uno reverse.

“I said ‘I am totally comfortable with it, you do you, just getting to have dinner with you would be compliments enough otherwise if you want to politely see yourself out now, no harm, no foul, I get it.’

“I sent her that message and she immediately unmatched me.”

Ian closed by saying this isn’t a ‘woe is me story’ and joked that he doesn’t want all the ‘short king’s’ to rally behind him to bash women.

He could certainly see the funny side of things as he captioned the clip: “Dating in your 30s is hilarious. It’s humiliating. But also hilarious. Don’t come at me with that short man syndrome bs.”

Speaking to Newsweek, he again reflected on the difficulties of dating while being considered short. He said: “I think most people would agree that dating often feels like a self-inflicted humiliation ritual.

“Sometimes, despite my best intentions, things come out awkwardly or my vibe just isn't what they're looking for—and that's OK.”

Keep your head up, Ian.
