Scientists reveal which country has the best lovers and the results might surprise you

From Brazil to Germany, there is only one country that takes the top spot for being the best lover on Earth

If you had to rank a nationality as the best lover in the world, who would you pick?

Different countries surely do produce different men, and when it comes to lovers, there are stereotypical countries that always appear in films.

For example, the affectionate French man, or the exotic and adventurous Spaniard are romantic tropes we all know and love.

But does that make them the best lovers?

A new study has finally determined which nation performs best in the bedroom, and you might be surprised about where the US lands.

It all began when researchers asked 2,000 people to reveal that nationality of the best lover they ever had, and the results were juicy.

Of course, Italians were immediately placed at number 1, with 21 per cent of respondents naming them as they are best they’d ever had.

Then, came Spain at 15 per cent, followed by the Greeks at 14 per cent.

From there, Brazillians took fourth place, and France took fifth place while the Portuguese strutted in at sixth place, and the Swedes at seventh place.

Australians came up at eight place, and British men followed at nineth place, Germany took home the 10th place name…but the US was nowhere to be seen.

In fact, American men were probably lumped in with the ‘other’ category which held its 11th spot.

According to Sylvia Linzalone, from dating app Wisp, Mediterranean men being on the list is unsurprising.

As per the Daily Mail, she said: “It’s the confidence, the eye contact, the way they talk – it’s all very magnetic.

“When you're in Italy or Spain, romance is practically part of the weather forecast.”

However, as for why Brits are low on the list, she had her own theory.

“We love a good cuppa and a stiff upper lip, but sometimes that doesn’t translate to fireworks in the bedroom,” she said. “Meanwhile, in Italy, even buying bread can feel like foreplay.”

As for when these interactions happened, most of them were on vacation.

There’s nothing more romantic than a fast-paced and short-lived vacation romance.

More than a third of people said their most memorable fling happened while on holiday, with nearly one in five saying they fell in love – or at least something very close to it – while abroad.

There’s nothing more romantic than a fast-paced and short-lived vacation fling.

One woman from the poll detailed her romance in Naples, and she said it ‘ruined British men’ for her forever.

“I went for the pizza, but stayed for Paolo,” she said.

According to her, the Italian Stallion had ‘incredible confidence and warmth’, but the men back home ‘just ask if you want a kebab and a cuddle’.

So, how can you be more romantic?

British relationship expert, Anna Williamson, said it could be down to microromancingv.

She said: "In fact the majority of singles now agree that they show their love and affection by doing the small things such as sharing a meme, a playlist, or sharing an inside joke.

"So it turns out you don't need to win over your crush by sending a massive expensive bunch of flowers - I mean you can if you like - but all you actually need to do is send them a cute little meme.

"Instead of grand gestures, it seems as though people are embracing the joy of micromancing - expressing your interest through small gestures that have a big impact."
