People all agree this one small detail ‘100%’ reveals your partner is planning to break up with you

Redditors have come out in force to offer their dating advice after one user asked for a 'sign' that someone is planning to leave their relationship, with many people agreeing that there's one surefire way to tell that a breakup is imminent.

No matter what stage in a relationship you might be in, there's always something that requires an outside opinion. It might be as simple as whether your partner should be taking out the trash more, or right into the nitty-gritty with troubles from the bedroom.

Whatever the question, the internet has got an answer for it - as one Reddit user found out when they took to the r/AskReddit thread to ask fellow users: "What’s a sign someone is quietly planning to leave their relationship/marriage?"

The user didn't offer any context to their question, so it's unclear whether it came from a personal matter or just genuine curiosity, but interestingly many people still came up with one response in particular - with one even giving a name to the sign.

Generally, Reddit users agreed that one key 'sign' is when your partner essentially 'goes quiet', and no longer seems to care about matters that they were previously passionate about.

One comment explained: "Partner has complained about the same thing 40 times but it’s still happening and it hasn’t been mentioned in a while. It’s unlikely they decided it’s not a big deal all of a sudden - they are over it."

Another agreed, responding: "It's always when we go quiet."

One Reddit user described this in the case of a female in a relationship as 'Walk Away Wife Syndrome', claiming: "It’s when something has been brought up many times, there’s been no change or action, she stops bringing it up and the husband thinks all is suddenly peaceful. Nope, she’s checked out from years of feeling unheard and dismissed. She silently decides what she wants to do and eventually takes action, often blindsiding her husband."

The Redditor added that this feeling can 'go both ways', noting: "Bottom line is relationships take work and compromise, and don’t even take each other for granted."

Some people responding to the post spoke from experience, with one saying that the feeling of going 'quiet' was 'exactly how [they] felt' when they were ready to leave their last relationship.

"Its interesting how all the top comments are basically the same thing but in different words. I 100% agree with all them too," someone else added.

Of course, it's worth noting that the first step in addressing any potential problem in a relationship is communication, so if you notice your partner appearing to check out, it's worth attempting to talk to them to get to the bottom of the issue, before it gets any further out of hand.
