Expert reveals the best time of day to have sex according to your age

The best sex comes at different times of day depending on your age, apparently

An expert has detailed the best time to have sex based on your age, and the reasoning may surprise you.

While many see intimate time with their partner as the ideal way to start the day, others prefer having sex in the evening before heading to bed.

Whatever your time of choice, there's no wrong time to have sex.

However, according to one expert, there's a best time to get dirty between the sheets based on your age.

20-30

Mike Kocsis, a hormone health expert, told Metro that hormones are at their most 'robust' during our twenties, often leading to the most sexually active part of people's lives.

"You have a higher libido, especially around ovulation, and you have more energy and emotional response to intimacy," Mike said.

The Metro article explains that people in their twenties 'might wake up raring to go', which means first thing is often the ideal time to have sex.

30-40

With kids often around at this point, those in their thirties often see a decrease in the amount of sex they are having.

While Mike explains your sex life at this point is 'deeper and more emotionally satisfying', there's certainly a lot of differences to your twenties.

"Sex can become less driven by hormonal spikes and more by trust, connection, and oxytocin-driven bonding," he explained. "Fluctuations in oestrogen and testosterone can make sex drive less predictable, but stronger body awareness and emotional depth can lead to more satisfaction."

Basically, the best time is whenever you have time.

40-50

Apparently, the best time to make love in your forties is during the work from home lunch break, while mornings are also an option given the children are likely teenagers at this point and could well sleep in.

Mike states that during your forties, it's important to create an 'intentional, pressure-free' space for having sex.

50-60

With both oestrogen and testosterone declining during your fifties, this is when sex often slows down. However, it doesn't stop altogether.

Metro explains how the morning is the best time to get intimate due to the high energy levels present at the start of the day following a good night's rest.

60+

The opposite is the case for those over the age of 60, with afternoon and evenings the best time to have sex, according to Mike.

The expert notes those in their sixties experience the 'phase of sexuality that’s richer and more intentional than ever'.
