Americans defend Cheesecake Factory after it’s labelled bad place for a first date

The Cheesecake Factory has become the subject of heated debate online over whether or not it's a good first date location.

The Cheesecake Factory is being vehemently defended by some Americans after it was slammed as a bad location for a first date.

First dates can feel pivotal when you first meet up with someone who you're romantically interested in. It's not only whether or not they only talk about themselves the whole time or if they show up late which can jeopardise it, but some singles are also judging their potential partner for where they suggest to meet up on their first date.

And The Cheesecake Factory has now found itself at the centre of a heated debate, Americans divided over whether or not it makes a good first spot to take a date after one woman appeared to have an extreme reaction to being taken to the restaurant.

A TikTok video - re-shared to the platform by a user named Monique Santos who said she wasn't the woman in the video - recently went viral, showing a woman complaining about being taken to a branch of the restaurant on a first date.

In the video, a woman can be seen in the passenger side of a car which pulls up outside The Cheesecake Factory.

As the car comes to a standstill, the driver of the car gets out and offers to come and open the door for the woman - what a gentleman.

Alas, the woman quickly addresses the camera while he's outside, noting: "He got me at The Cheesecake Factory y'all. I ain't getting out this car."

When her date asks 'what's wrong' with the location, she says: "Who takes someone that looks like this to a chain restaurant?"

The woman continues to slate the restaurant saying she'd 'die' if she went in there, which leads the man to resolve perhaps they 'are not right for each other' before dropping her back off.

While the TikTok video has since been questioned over whether it's simply a skit, the Cheesecake Factory also came out in spot number one on a list shared to Instagram by Duval Promo titled: "Here is a list of places women absolutely refuse to go on a first date to."

However, fans of The Cheesecake Factory - which FYI for any UK readers, doesn't only serve cheesecake but dishes like avocado tacos and steak as well - have flooded to social media in its defence.

One X - formerly known as Twitter - user said: "What's wrong with the Cheesecake Factory?"

"Cheesecake Factory needs to capitalize on this moment and come out with a first date menu!" another advised.

And a third wrote: "Please take me to the Cheesecake Factory - I’m saying yes every time."

Figures such as comedian Tim Young have even weighed in on the debate too, telling Fox News it's 'one of the nicer chain restaurants' and 'represents Americana'.

ESPN host Stephen A Smith added: "What the hell is wrong with the Cheesecake Factory? Ain’t nothing wrong with the Cheesecake Factory."

And Fox Sports host LeSean McCoy resolved: "If she can't eat at cheesecake, she can't eat with me."
