Donald Trump has slammed Elon Musk as ‘off the rails’ after the Tesla boss announced he was creating a new political party.
Musk may be stepping down from being Trump's 'First Buddy' to political rival, with tensions rising ever since he left the White House on a rather sour note in May.
In case you missed it, the billionaire tech mogul spearheaded the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) from January, which controversially slashed the federal workforce and landed him in some hot water.
However, he stuck at it, up until his role naturally expired after 130 days in office, after which came his lengthy Twitter rants about Trump.

It all started when Musk publicly criticized the president's 'big beautiful bill', dubbing it an 'abomination' before alleging Trump is named in the Jeffrey Epstein files in a series of now-deleted tweets.

Then over the weekend, Musk stated he wanted to see a new third party emerge, called the 'America Party', which he teased as an idea on the nation's Independence Day.
On July 5, Musk announced he had set up the party to challenge Democrats and Republicans, describing the status quo as a 'two-party' or 'uniparty' system, though it remains unclear whether the America Party has been formally registered with US election authorities.

Now, Trump has weighed in on the situation, claiming his former 'special government employee' has gone 'completely off the rails'.
Taking to Truth Social on July 6, the POTUS wrote: "I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely 'off the rails,' essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks.

"He even wants to start a Third Political Party, despite the fact that they have never succeeded in the United States - The System seems not designed for them."

Trump continued to slam the idea, claiming third parties are only good for 'the creation of complete and total disruption and chaos'.
"We have enough of that with the Radical Left Democrats, who have lost their confidence and their minds!" he continued. "Republicans, on the other hand, are a smooth running 'machine,' that just passed the biggest Bill of its kind in the History of our Country."
Musk criticized the bill, which offers a raft of temporary tax cuts while slashing Medicaid and food stamp programs such as SNAP, by writing at the time: "I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination.
"Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it."

The SpaceX founder claims it will 'massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion and burden America citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt'.

He added in a follow-up post that in November next year, 'we fire all politicians who betrayed the American people'.
Addressing these points, Trump defended his legislation as 'great', but suggested Musk isn't in favor of it because it 'eliminates the ridiculous Electric Vehicle (EV) Mandate' which the president claims 'would have forced everyone to buy an Electric Car in a short period of time'.

Trump said American consumers are 'now allowed to buy whatever they want' to drive and further alleged Musk gave 'his total and unquestioned endorsement' on the plan to scrap it, adding: "It was in every speech I made, and in every conversation I had. He said he had no problems with that - I was very surprised!"
Trump also claimed in his rant that Musk's 'close friend' at NASA is a 'blue blooded Democrat' before adding: "Elon probably was, also."
"I also thought it inappropriate that a very close friend of Elon, who was in the Space Business, run NASA, when NASA is such a big part of Elon’s corporate life. My Number One charge is to protect the American Public!" he concluded.
