I think we all have an idea on what we would spend the money on in the unlikely event of winning the lottery.

Of course, the chances of winning the jackpot are very slim, but someone does have to win it.

Cheng 'Charlie' Saephan, from Portland, recently won a whopping $1.3 billion after claiming the Powerball jackpot.

After winning the massive amount, Saephan has become richer than the one and only Taylor Swift.

And Saephan is using the money on a very important cause.

The 46-year-old, who has had cancer for eight years, said he and his wife, Duanpen Saephan, 37, would split the prize evenly with a pal.

The friend contributed $100 to buy some tickets with them. As a result, they are taking a lump sump of $422 million after taxes.

At a news conference held by the Oregon Lottery on Monday, Saephan said: "“I am grateful for the lottery and how I have been blessed. I will be able to provide for my family and my health… I’ll find a good doctor for myself."

As a long-term cancer patient, Saephan wondered: "How am I going to have time to spend all of this money? How long will I live?"

The lucky ticket was purchased at the Plaid Pantry at 6060 NE Columbia Boulevard in Portland.

After purchasing the ticket earlier this month, Saephan's friend, Laiza Chao, 55, of Milwaukie, sent a snap to him that simply read, 'We're billionaires'.

Well, that was a joke before the actual draw took place.

And the next day it came true, and it was Saephan who told Chao the life-changing news.

Saephan recalled: "I said, ‘Laiza, where are you?’ and she said, ‘I’m going to work. I replied, ‘You don’t have to go anymore.'”

Plaid Pantry, the store that sold the ticket, is also set to receive a cool $100,000 for selling the winning ticket.

Plaid Pantry President and CEO Jonathan Polonsky said: "Plaid Pantry is thrilled to learn that one of our 104 Oregon stores sold the $1.3 billion dollar Powerball ticket.

"This store is one of our newest and most loved stores. Proceeds from the Oregon Lottery fund many programs that benefit everyone in the state, and we’ve been a proud partner with the Oregon Lottery since the very beginning. Congratulations to our lucky customer from our over 700 Plaid associates!"
