Woman accused of trying to hire hitman to murder the wife of a man she met on Match.com

Melody Sasser has been accused of trying to hire a hitman to kill the wife of a man she met on Match.com

A woman allegedly tried to hire a hitman to kill the wife of a man she met on a dating site.

It's claimed that Melody Sasser used a website called Online Killers Market to find someone willing to murder rival Jennifer Wallace.

In court documents seen by the Daily Mail, it's alleged she placed the order back in January this year, paying $9,750 in Bitcoin upfront.

Several months later, Sasser's alleged plot was uncovered when foreign police shared intelligence with the Department of Homeland Security.

The affidavit claims the authorities found messages from a US-based user called 'cattree', which prosecutors claim was Sasser, to the administrator of the Online Killers Market.

According to one exchange, Sasser became annoyed that no one had taken her job offer yet, prosecutors say.

"Waiting for 2 months and 11 days and the work is not done," Cattree said on 22 March.

"2 weeks ago you said that on this The work has been done and will be completed in a week.

"The work is still not completed. Does it need to be assigned to someone else. Will it be done. What is the delay, when will it be done."

Eventually, however, it's alleged that Cattree found her man, with chat messages using Wallace's full name and address, along with a photo of her, and how it was to be carried out.

It read: "It needs to seem random or accident, or plant drugs, do not want a long investigation.

"She recently moved in with her new husband, she works at home and in office in Birmingham.

"She drives a blue Subaru Outba97ck, her husband drives a maroon Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Sasser had met David Wallace on the dating site, and would go hiking with him.

"Her husband works at Publix part time, they have three dogs that bark and jump."

After police got in touch with the potential victim, Wallace told them about Sasser, who met David Wallace on Match.com and helped him trek the Appalachian trail before he moved away with his wife.

Wallace alleged to police that Sasser had previously turned up to her home and told her and her husband: "I hope you both fall off a cliff and die."

Using data from Strava, prosecutors claim that Sasser would actually follow the couple on their hikes, sharing the information with her chosen killer.

According to reports, Sasser was arrested on 18 May and is now awaiting a further court appearance on 8 June.
