Breaking Bad star Dean Norris has hit out at people complaining about the soaring prices of gas in the United States.

The actor who plays Hank Schrader in the Breaking Bad series, has claimed that the people of the United States are getting what they bargained for.

He tweeted: “You’re not getting ‘robbed’ at the pump. You’re paying a fair market price for a commodity. If you love Capitalism so much then stfu.”

His tweet comes as the American people are facing record-high gas prices, with the national average price of regular gas hitting $5 (£4.10) a gallon, and currently sitting at $4.97 (£4.00), according to AAA.

This is compared to the $3.07 (£2.50) average per gallon a year ago.

In California, where Norris resides, gas is currently the most expensive in the country, and is currently averaging $6.38 (£5.20).

Considering he has appeared in some high-calibre films such as Lethal Weapon 2, Hard to Kill, and Terminator 2, as well as a highly successful role in Breaking Bad, you’d hazard a guess that the price of gas wouldn’t be too much of a problem for Norris.

The tone-deaf nature of his tweet, which received 72,000 likes and 8,500 retweets, has been slammed by many on Twitter.

One user tweeted: “I love Breaking Bad, but a millionaire actor from Hollywood worth $5 million can’t be telling hard-working Americans who live paycheck by paycheck to just suck it up when you specifically benefit from capitalism. Please just stick to acting my guy.”

Another said: “Easy for someone as loaded as you to say. Prices were fine a few months ago. Restriction of capitalism is what put us here.”

While one Twitter user said: “Dude just act and leave real life problems to the people who understand that stuff.”

President Joe Biden has lashed out at oil companies for driving up the prices of gas, sending a letter to major oil refineries and operators last week.

According to Yahoo! News, the letter reads: “The sharp rise in gasoline prices is not driven only by rising oil prices, but by an unprecedented disconnect between the price of oil and the price of gas.”

Meanwhile, Biden is considering a federal holiday on the gasoline tax that will save consumers as much as 18.4 cents a gallon, according to PBS.
