Kanye West’s Twitter account restored after Elon Musk takes over platform

Kanye West's Twitter account has been restored just a day after Elon Musk bought the social media platform.

The rapper was banned from Twitter and Meta platforms including Instagram earlier this month after posting antisemitic statements, including a tweet sent on October 8 stating he would go 'death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE'.

Although the offending tweet remains deleted, his page is up and running again but he is yet to post.

The news arrives after the Tesla CEO finally acquired Twitter in a $44 billion (£38 billion) deal following a tumultuous few months.

So far, Musk is believed to have fired a number of top execs at the company, although this news is yet to be confirmed.

It won't be all that surprising to see Ye's account back up, as Musk previously set out his intentions of taking over the platform with 'free speech' in mind.

"Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated," he said in June.

Oh, and Ye also lashed out on US President Joe Biden, calling him a ‘f**king r******d’ for not agreeing to take a meeting with Musk.

No doubt the news that West's page is back up will cause quite a stir, as the Donda creator has landed himself in hot water over a number of controversial comments in recent weeks.

Rather than apologise for the tweet that got him banned from the site, Ye doubled down on his remarks, claiming he was 'happy to have crossed the line'.

On Tuesday, Adidas dropped its Yeezy contract with the star, saying that it 'does not tolerate' anti-semitism.

The sports brand said in a statement: "Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech.

"Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.

"After a thorough review, the company has taken the decision to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy branded products and stop all payments to Ye and his companies.

"Adidas will stop the Adidas Yeezy business with immediate effect."

He was similarly dropped by talent agency CAA, and a report from Variety revealed that a completed documentary made about West will also be scrapped because of the comments.

But this isn't the only trouble Ye's landed himself in recently.

The mother of George Floyd's child is currently preparing a defamation lawsuit against the rapper after he claimed the man who inspired a resurgence in the Black Lives Matter movement died from fentanyl rather than police brutality.

According to the lawsuit, Ye and 'his business partners, and associates' are accused of 'harassment misappropriation, defamation, and infliction of emotional distress'.
