A 'brave' influencer has left people 'horrified' after sharing photos and videos of her going through the process of a facelift.

Shekinah Garner, known for featuring on 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way alongside her partner Sarper Güven, shared the graphic images on her social media accounts back in January.

Taking to Instagram, she posted: "Forever fascinated with the healing process. Our bodies are so amazing.

"Done with facial fillers (lips only!) and feeling lifted and fresh now that I had a Firat Lift and lower Blepharoplasty. Thank you @drmirzafirat for your incredible artistry."

Her post included footage of her stitches post-surgery, as she added: "The netting you see in some of the latter slides is called a hemostatic net and is used to reduce swelling, bruising and blood clotting. No it didn’t really hurt.

"Your face is very numb after surgery because of nerve damage. As the nerves grow back/heal you slowly get a tingle then full feeling eventually. Healing wasn’t particularly painful but def uncomfey for the first week."

After the video was shared to Twitter, some fans were left 'horrified' by what the process.

"That's scary," one person typed.

Another wrote in part: "That is beyond horrific."

With a third adding: "This is horrifying."

While on Instagram, one user lauded Garner as 'brave' for sharing her transition with her fans.

They wrote: "You are seriously so brave, this procedure scares me. It’s been fun watching you on 90 Day!"

But what exactly is happening to a person's body when going through a face lift?

What it involves is tightening the tissues and muscles around the patient's skin once it's been elevated, with the excess fat in the face and neck either removed, moved or sculpted, the Mayo Clinic explains.

"Facial skin is then re-draped over the newly repositioned contours of the face. Excess skin is removed, and the wound is stitched or taped closed," it writes.

While different people have different reasons for wanting to go under the knife for the procedure, our skin naturally loosens as we age, thanks to a number of factors - with exposure to sunlight over time making our skin less elastic, while gravity causes it to wrinkle and sag.
