A point-of-view video of a firefighter attempting to put out a raging inferno has left people impressed and horrified.

Hopefully you have been lucky enough in your life to avoid being trapped in a burning inferno.

If you haven't been so lucky, then you can understand just how terrifying that situation is.

For the rest of us, a GoPro video showing the viewpoint of firefighters in a building going up in flames has never seemed more terrifying.

While we are all aware of what jobs firefighters do, it is a completely different thing to essentially see the heroic acts through their eyes. As a normal civilian, when I see a fire, my instincts are to run the opposite way, not charge right into it, and try and put it out.

The near 4-minute video was shared by GoPro on their YouTube channel earlier this month and shows firefighter Joseth Abel Espinosa.

Espinosa is a member of the Third Fire Company in Nunoa, a commune located in the northeastern area of Santiago, Chile’s capital.

In the video caption, the company wrote: “The brave men + women of the Third Fire Company of Ñuñoa went to work to put out the flames engulfing a burning house in Santiago, Chile.

“With a GoPro filming, the firefighting team arrived on scene, rolled out the hose, + sprung into action, as seen in fireman Joseth Abel Espinosa's POV. While the house was lost, thankfully nobody was injured as a result. We thank our first responders + everyday heroes for their selfless actions day in + day out.”

The video showed Espinosa attacking different points of the flame with his hose and making his way through a room while debris falls and smoke fills the room.

The footage certainly invigorated further support and adoration for emergency workers.

One person on social media commented: “This is the first time I’m seeing a POV video of a firefighter. And the view is scarily awesome.”

Another added: “Damn that's wild. Much respect. I think we all logically know what fire fighters do, but to see it from this perspective brings a whole new level of understanding.”

A third commented: “The bravery and skill shown in this GoPro footage is breathtaking. It's a powerful reminder of the sacrifices firefighters make daily to keep us safe.

With another chiming in: “I never really understood a burning house would look this chaotic with debris scattered everywhere based on what I've seen in movies/games. Firefighters are real heroes!”
