Wendy’s employee sparks outrage after revealing how 'fresh' fries can be faked

A Wendy’s employee has sparked outrage on TikTok after sharing how they prepare an order of ‘fresh’ fries.

The popular fast-food chain carries a varied menu, including a square hamburger and beloved breakfast combos, while regularly being praised for their level of customer service and freshly made orders.

But TikTok account @izshaquan101 shared a clip earlier this year showing what happens when a customer sends back 'cold' fries. Check it out:

While it can't be heard what the customer asked for in the short clip, the video has a caption reading: "My fries are cold I want fresh fries."

The worker is seen taking back the bag of fries from the drive-thru window - presumably taking them to be replaced with freshly made fries.

But instead of replacing them, the employee simply reheats them in the fryer and empties them back into the branded fries box, before handing them back to the customer.

Even though it seems easier in terms of time and heating, it's seen as bad practice for a restaurant to reheat their fries as it is believed that reheating them to bring back a crispy texture will just ‘fill them with overwhelming amount of grease’ during the process, according to Southern Living.

A viral TikTok video has had fans of Wendy's questioning how they prepare their fries.

It's unclear if the video was posted as a skit or not, as it has not been confirmed that this is something Wendy’s as a business accepts as part of the preparation process, as their website states: “High-quality fresh ingredients set Wendy’s food apart and ensure our menu is Fast Food Done Right.

"To deliver the best dining experience, we have to use the best ingredients and that starts with sourcing from like-minded supplier partners.”

The seven-second-long clip caused an uproar from loyal buyers, who felt duped by the food chain.

One person reasonably asked underneath the video: “but why was it so hard the first time?”

Another proposed a hack, saying: “Just ask for fries with no salt, then they have to make them fresh.”

While others added: “Little do they know it’s actually a 3-4 minute wait at best for fresh fries, I’d rather the reheat tbh.

“This is why I go in and watch them make it, to make sure they don’t they don’t just warm up the old fries and tell them to get old fries off the corners.”

“Nah that’s wild, I worked at Wendy’s and we always dropped fries when someone asked for fresh ones. Noone would even think of doing this at the one I worked at.”

One passionately asked “I want them straight out of the oil is that too much to ask!?”

UNILAD has reached out to Wendy’s for comment.
