Woman who only ate meat for an entire month reveals shocking impact on her body

Janis claimed the diet was like 'biohacking her body', though experts have shared their concerns

A 30-year-old woman has spoken out about what happened to her body after she gave up fruit and vegetables to focus on eating nothing but meat and dairy.

When Janis Luize Rocha Leites, from San Diego, California, celebrated her 30th birthday, she admitted she 'wasn't feeling [her] best self'.

"I wasn't happy with my body or my skin. I had no energy," she said.

Janis had a history of trying out different diets and had spent two years as a vegetarian, but in spite of her efforts, she noticed she was struggling with 'small red dots' on her skin and that her hair was thinning.

However, things changed for Janis after she met up with a friend that she hadn't seen in six months, and noticed his hair and skin had changed. The friend revealed he'd been doing the carnivore diet - which involves only eating animal products - and decided to give it a go for herself.

Janis stopped drinking and dove into the carnivore diet for 30 days, after which she says she'd lost 20lbs.

The 30-year-old has praised the results of her diet, though experts have issued warnings that it could lead to an increased risk of kidney stones, and an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

Janis, however, was happy with the results.

"I always felt something was wrong with vegetables," she explained. "Even though they were organic I'd always feel bloated. This diet helps you with your cravings - I was a big sweet tooth - but not anymore. I feel like a total new person."

Janis said that while she previously had 'a lot of brain fog', she now wakes up 'without it everyday'.

She continued: "My double chin went away. I got a lean tummy. After the carnivore diet my period stabilized."

Janis typically kicks off each day with scrambled eggs and meat, and sometimes bone broth, followed then by grilled meat for a late lunch.

"My skin cleared up. I used to have what looked like blemishes - small red dots. My face would swell up. My wrinkles went away. It felt like I had got Botox done," Janis continued.

Janis has also credited the diet with helping her to become pregnant in January 2025, though there is limited scientific research to support the idea that it has an impact on fertility.

Janis claimed: "This diet got me pregnant. It feels like you are biohacking your body. I can't say it was 100% from the diet but I had said 'I'm getting more fertile' to my boyfriend."

Janis is now 23 weeks pregnant, and continues to eat 300g of meat per day.

She typically sticks to red meat, but will occasionally have chicken and pork as well. The mom-to-be has incorporated fruits and some carbohydrates into her diet while pregnant, but she remains a proponent of the carnivore diet and plans to introduce her child to it when they're old enough.
