Flat-Earther's experiment to prove Earth is flat accidentally proves Earth is round

People who believe that the Earth is flat is nothing new, and these believers have been around for years.

The Flat Earth society was set up in 1956, though there has never been scientific evidence behind their audacious claims.

Flat Earth believers are classified by experts in philosophy and physics as science deniers.

Unfortunately for this flat-earther, he made a bit of a fool of himself as he tried to prove that Earth is indeed flat.

While on camera, the man performed an experiment to prove his beliefs, but in fact he proved the complete opposite.

The clip is from the Netflix documentary Behind The Curve, which speaks to and explores the community of flat-earthers around the world.

In this particular clip, one flat earth believer sets up a DIY experiment for the cameras.

It involves using a camera to film through two holes, and a person standing on the other side shinning a torch back at the camera.

The flat-earther claims that if the light can be seen with the camera, the holes in the fence and the torch all at the same difference above the ground, then the Earth is flat.

A bit audacious to make such a bold claim from such a simple experiment, but we will go with it anyway.

But embarrassingly for the flat-earther, the complete opposite happened.

As seen in the clip, his friend holds the torch at the same level as the camera, but the light is nowhere to be seen.

Instead, once he lifts the camera higher, the light shines through the holes in the fence, making the flat-earther blush ever so slightly.

As he realises that he has essentially disproved his own theory, the man is heard saying 'interesting' as he thinks of a way to get out of this one.

The clip has gone viral on Reddit with many finding the funny side to the experiment.

One person joked: "I've seen that clip many times but have yet to see his explanation as to how that happened."

A second added: "And I'm sure mental gymnastics were performed to still be a flat earther."

And a third said: "This guy took the time and effort to learn a way to prove his hypothesis. There was another guy who was a self taught rocket scientist just to prove the earth was flat."
