British physicist Brian Cox has shared his honest insight into what he believes is inside the notoriously mysterious Area 51.
Ever since its creation in 1955, Area 51 has been the subject of questions and conspiracies. It was originally built as a test facility for the Lockheed U-2 Spy Plane, but in the decades since, it's rumored to have been home to UFO activity, alien autopsies and clandestine investigations.
Located in Nevada, more than 120 miles northwest of Las Vegas, the official government name for Area 51 is the Nevada Test and Training Range, which isn't quite as mysterious as people might want it to be.

Nowadays, the space is used as an open training range for the US Air Force. At least, that's what the government say...
No matter how many times officials might try to assure the public that there's nothing conspiracy-worthy going on, rumors continue to swirl - so much so that there was an entire viral movement to Storm Area 51 back in 2019.
Needless to say, however, the attempt didn't result in any more answers.

Now Brian Cox has weighed in on the debate, speaking on the subject of Area 51 during an episode of LADbible's Honesty Box series on YouTube.
After answering questions about life on Mars and explaining whether teleportation could really work, the scientist was asked: "What do you believe is in Area 51?"
And that's when Cox revealed what is probably one of the realest answers the public has ever gotten on the subject.
Drawing on his experience of spending time in Nevada, Cox responded: "Having driven around Nevada, I would say sand."
I know, I know, it's not the answer you might have been hoping for, but Cox probably isn't wrong. It's just that there's likely all sorts of other government buildings, machines and data in there too.
On its website, the CIA says the facility was chosen by top officials of the U-2’s Development Projects Staff who flew to Nevada while on the hunt for a site where the plane could be tested safely and secretly.

The area was originally called Groom Lake, and was just a dry lakebed - but we know that Area 51 isn't solely home to sand due to the fact that it's restricted to the public, and has armed guards that protect the perimeter.
When it comes to what's actually inside, though, it seems Cox is just as clueless as the rest of us!
