A woman has been accused of murdering her husband after her affair was exposed.
Mother of three Jennifer Gledhill allegedly showed up to her lover’s home just before midnight on September 22, 2024, authorities claim.
The woman explained to her affair partner how her husband had become angry with her after learning of her infidelity, and a heated argument ensued.
Gledhill said Utah National Guardsman Matthew Johnson confronted her about the affair and gave a chilling confession as to what transpired next.

After the man quickly reported what he was told to the police, Gledhill, 41, was arrested on October 2 as police claim she shot and killed Johnson, 51, in the head while he slept and then moved his remains, which are still missing.

“Matthew Johnson is not missing,” Salt Lake County Deputy District Attorney Emily Paulos said during a February hearing. “Matthew Johnson was murdered by the defendant.”
Gledhill pleaded not guilty to the office and is expected to wait for her December trial without the possibility of bail.

It was claimed by prosecutors that Gledhill’s horrified lover explained she had confessed that she shot Johnson the night of an argument in the couple’s bed with his 9mm handgun, put his body inside of a vehicle rooftop storage container, packed him up into her minivan and buried him in a shallow grave just north of their home in Cottonwood Heights.
He then deposited the text messages and audio recordings of their phone calls regarding her confession to the police, leading to the arrest of Gledhill on suspicion of first-degree murder of the man she was embroiled in a divorce battle with.
When her affair partner told her he was scared of her during a phone call, Gledhill apparently told him: “Wow, if you think I could even hurt a fly. Like he just, he is, he’s not a person. He wasn’t a person anymore. He wasn’t Matt.”
Prosecutors also read a transcript of a phone call between Gledhill and her lover, where she told him ‘not to think of her as a monster’ and asked him to ‘remember her for who she was before she opened her mouth’.

During Friday’s hearing, phone tracking data that showed Gledhill traveled to a location where Johnson’s truck was found on September 21 was presented, as well as a GPS map of her phone location on September 22.
It showed her traveling north, leading to a search of the area.
The search resulted in finding a vehicle storage container that apparently floated to the water’s surface and contained Johnson’s blood inside.

GPS data also placed her in Davis County, where a mattress from the couple’s home and pillows were found wrapped in a rug.
Johnson’s blood was also on a rug and other areas inside the bedroom, with it was noted that she may have cleaned a wall close by.
Her parents, Thomas, 71, and Rosalie, 68, were also arrested on suspicion of obstruction of justice for allegedly helping her clean the area.
