Man jumps into the ocean to avoid giving phone password to his girlfriend

If your partner would rather jump into the ocean than hand over their password, something fishy might be going on

Everyone's entitled to their privacy, but if your partner literally jumps into the ocean to avoid giving you their password, it's probably fair to assume something's up.

This is the bizarre decision one guy made while on a boat with his girlfriend in Florida, when he found himself backed into a corner as two officers with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC) pulled up next to them.

The couple appear to have been enjoying a day out on the water when the officers approached, explaining they had been searching for a different vessel but noticed code violations on the couple's boat.

The man, identified as AJ, asked the officers if they were 'just out here trying to catch people breaking laws on the water', to which the officers pointed out they were simply 'addressing violations because [they're] cops'.

"That’s what we do,” one of the officers replied.

Neither AJ or his girlfriend had ID on them, and the man only became more agitated as officers kept questioning them, asking if they had a 'warrant' out for him.

“Usually, when people start acting like that, it is because they’ve got a warrant,” one of the officers responded.

Determined not to go down without a fight, AJ then asked what would happen if he were to just 'jump in the water and swim away'.

“I’m going to follow you,” one officer responded. “I’m telling you, you’re not free to leave."

All the while, the seemingly confused girlfriend was desperately trying to get AJ to calm down, and asked for his cell phone so she could call his boss and get help.

AJ apparently wasn't so keen on that idea, though, and when his girlfriend asked for his phone password he refused to answer.

When she approached him a second time, and with the officers also closing in, AJ made the bold move to jump into the ocean.

He insisted he was 'not resisting' the officers, but refused to hand himself over and instead began swimming back to shore.

Needless to say, his girlfriend wasn't happy as she shouted: "We are done after this, I’m telling you. I’m leaving!”

AJ's escape plan didn't exactly work out for him either, as the officers slowly followed him back to shore before slapping handcuffs on him.

After bodycam footage of the incident was shared on YouTube, viewers were left baffled by AJ's response to the whole ordeal.

"Dude would rather swim to land than give his girl his passcode," one viewer joked.

Another added: "Bro wasn't worried about jail he was worried about that phone being unlocked."
