A woman who was raised Amish reflected on her fascinating life that saw her rebel against her community, eventually stripping in Las Vegas.

While many people are very up to date with the many technological advancements and changes in the world, there are some who are pretty much in the dark about these evolutions. And no, I'm not talking about the remote tribes that are intentionally left alone; Amish communities in America live very different lives to the average US citizen.

Naomi Swartzentruber has long spoken of her journey leaving the Amish and her eventual desire to be rebellious as a teenager and explore the world. Speaking to LADbible Stories, Swartzentruber explained what happened that made her realize that she had to leave her Amish community and family in Michigan.

She explained that growing up, sex was a very taboo subject, and even though her mother and father would every now and again introduce a new child, she had no idea how babies were made, or how they were even born.

She explained that as she grew older, she wanted to experience things outside of her community, and this included with boys of her own age. Eventually connecting with some non-Amish boys, through the help of a close teenage friend, she detailed her first sexual experience.

Speaking about it, she said: “I really wanted to experience it, It didn’t last long but afterwards I felt so excited, but I was like.... well, it was exciting to me.

“I wanted to experience it more because it is fun... I didn’t know what I expected, because nobody ever talked to me about sex.

“That day just changed everything, I just felt so wild, like this fire that needed to burst out of me. I just wanted to go see the world and do everything that I wasn’t supposed to do.”

But at this time, Swartzentruber was under the age of 17, the age a person in Michigan is considered an adult, so if she wanted to run away, her parents would likely call the police and she would be forced to return. But there was one moment in particular that cemented her desire to leave it all behind.

She said: “One night, I got caught sneaking out when I was 17 and that was really, that is when I knew for sure that I was going to run away.

“At that point, I knew I wanted to keep having fun, but I didn’t want to sneak the rest of my life to have freedom.”

After stealing her birth certificate from her father’s desk and sneaking out at night, she managed to go off to live with a non-Amish boy and his family, a boy that she knew as he would often buy from her community.

From there, she went on to work at a fast-food restaurant before accidentally getting into stripping in Las Vegas after trying it one night.

At some point, she explained she developed a serious drug habit, but has since gotten herself clean and lives a life of sobriety, retiring from stripping during the Covid-19 pandemic.
