YG charging $1,000 for private dinner with him before shows

The rapper is offering fans a VIP experience before his upcoming concerts

They say you should never meet your heroes. And when they're charging you $1,000 for the pleasure, it's not that hard to see why.

Meet and greets are nothing new, and die hard fans are often willing to part with their hard earned cash to get a an autograph or a photo with their favourite band or actor.

But rapper YG has taken the gimmick to a new level by charging his fans a grand to have a sit-down meal with him before a couple of his gigs next month.

The rapper is set to perform the Observatory in Santa Ana, California, on 10 and 12 March, and has offered people the chance to tuck into a 'five star' three course meal with him when he's in town.

And not only that, fans who fork out for the VIP package will also get a photo with the man himself as well as access to an open bar. Bargain, if you ask me.

Announcing the concerts in a post to Instagram, YG - real name Keenon Dequan Ray Jackson - said: “I said I would never come back to the observatory but here I am, BDAY VIBES LIVE CONCERT put that s**t on & come F**k with me. UPSCALE EVENT!”

Unsurprisingly, the offer hasn't gone down too well with everyone and some of the rapper's fans have taken issue with the price of the meet and greet.

“Y’all playing $1,000.00 for dinner with YG?” asked one person.

Another said: "I can think of 1,000 ways to use $1,000 and none of them include dinner with YG," while a third put: "I would pay $1000 to not have dinner with YG."

Another added: "Don’t nobody want dinner with YG even if that shit was free."

Worth it?

Not everyone was so outraged by the price, though, as some actually thought it was a steal.

"Don’t nobody want dinner with YG even if that s**t was free," commented one.

Another chipped in: "YG is charging $1,000 for fans to have dinner with him before his shows... for what is included I don't think this is a crazy price at all especially if you are a fan of the artist."

Last year, Chris Brown came in for some criticism after he was seen getting pretty close with some of his fans during his One Of Them Ones Tour with Lil Baby.

Defending his behaviour, he said: “PSA!!! When artists (everyone) do concerts, they all have something called a VIP package. I haven’t done meet and greets in over 7 years...

“I have the coolest fans on the planet...I appreciate the f**k outta them. These are memories that will last with them forever."
