Singer Lola Young has spoken out after she collapsed mid-set during a live performance in New York.

The 24-year-old Brit, who burst onto the scene last year with her hit 'Messy' which went viral on TikTok, was on stage at All Things Go NYC Music Festival on Saturday (September 27) when things took a scary turn.

Fan footage shows Young halting her track 'Conceited' before motioning towards her team off-stage. Seconds later, she starts to stumble backwards and collapses, prompting band members to rush to her side.

After being assisted off stage, musician Remi Wolf stepped in in her place, noting how 'really f***ing scary' the ordeal was before confirming: "My friend Lola is backstage, and she is okay."

Hours later, Young herself updated fans via Instagram Stories, writing: "Hi, for anyone who saw my set at All Things Go today, I am doing okay now. Thank you for all of your support. Lola xxx."

The collapse came just a day after Young had already pulled out of another scheduled appearance. On Friday (September 26), her manager Nick Shymansky announced she would not perform at Audacy’s We Can Survive concert in New Jersey, citing concerns for her wellbeing.

“Unfortunately due to a sensitive matter I have advised Lola Young to pull out,” Shymansky explained.

"Lola is very open about her mental health and there are very occasionally days where myself and my team have to take protective measures to keep her safe. She is an incredible person and always takes her fans, career and performances seriously. I can only send huge apologies for the inconvenience caused.”

Now, taking to Instagram to break her silence on the frightening experience, she shared how 'disappointed' she was to have to pull out of the concert.

"I'm sorry to confirm that i won't be playing all things go in DC today," she wrote.

"I love this job and I never take my commitments and audience for granted so I'm sorry to those who will be disappointed by this. I hope you'll all give me another chance in the future.

"Thank you to all those who listen and care. To all the people that love to be mean online, pls give me a day off. Lola."

Young herself was aware that she wasn't a good place mentally before stepping out on stage in New York, as she admitted to the crowd during the same set: "I wanted to perform and I didn’t want to wallow in my sadness. Sometimes life can throw you lemons and you’ve just got to motherf***ing make lemonade.”

Young has previously been open about her struggles with schizoaffective disorder, which she was diagnosed with at 17. In an interview with The Telegraph, she described it as feeling like 'a bottle overflowing', explaining that while sometimes she can sense episodes approaching, other times they come on suddenly.

Her next gig is set to take place on October 6 in Manchester, England.
