Bruno Mars lit up a cigarette on stage after winning a Grammy – and viewers had a lot of time for it.

It was a very good night indeed for the 36-year-old singer, as he and Anderson .Paak scooped several awards as their duo, Silk Sonic.

The pair claimed the awards for Record and Song of the Year for 'Leave The Door Open', fending off favourites including Billie Eilish and Jon Batiste for the prizes.

The duo also secured two minor prizes during the pre-show.

Taking to the stage for the second time, they appeared to be in high spirits, with Mars taking the opportunity to enjoy a cigarette.

    Watch here:

Meanwhile, Paak – real name Brandon Paak Anderson – said: "We are really trying our hardest to remain humble at this point. But in the industry we call that a clean sweep.

"To all the other nominees, y'all know we love y'all.

"Drinks are on Silk Sonic tonight. We are getting drunk.

"I know a lot of you fans will be upset. So we will get out of here before the internet gets to talking."

Well, the internet sure enough did get talking, with lots of people eager to talk about Mars – real name Peter Gene Hernandez – lighting up on stage.

Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: "Lmao! Bruno Mars lit up a cigarette live on the #GRAMMYs stage after winning Record of the Year. I can't even deal."

Another said: "Bruno Mars just lit a cigarette on the Grammys stage in the middle of accepting an award, can we talk about that instead of Will Smith now?"

Earlier in the night, Foo Fighters won all three awards they were nominated for – Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song and Best Rock Album for their latest offering Medicine at Midnight.

Tributes were paid to their drummer Taylor Hawkins, following his death last week.
