Behind the scenes of what camping at Coachella is really like

Coachella is a fan-favourite festival, but the realities of camping at the site are a world away than you'd expect.

We’ve entered the Coachella season and thankfully Tiktok is giving us the real scoop on the realities of what it’s like to attend.

So, even if you don’t have the fortune of living in the US, you can still imagine a day in the life of a Coachella attendee for a while!

Users like Kaelalala24 on TikTok showed her 22,000 followers the reality of what it’s like to camp at Coachella on the first day of the festival and it’s a lot grittier than you’d think.

It starts by waking up no later than 6am to get in line at the shower station, which features the longest shower line you’ve probably ever seen, and it takes almost two hours to get to the end!

Kaela took her viewers along for the ride as soon as she woke up, narrating her morning routine at the festival.

She began: “it’s currently six in the morning.”

“I woke up early because I have to use the porta potties, which I’ve already had forty panic attacks over.”

“I’m not even kidding when I say that.”

So, at least now you know that there’s no luxury bidet or toilet stall when visiting Coachella and instead, there are a couple of temporary porta loos to use during your stay.

After the toilet nightmare, Kaela and her friends decided to go straight to the shower station and wash up, though there was only one line which led her to believe that the showers were “co-ed”.

While waiting for over an hour, she filmed an interview-style video of her friends while waiting in line to wash up.

Asking her friend Maddie about how she feels, she replied, “I feel dirty.”

Moving on and asking other friends, they also responded similarly.

“I feel dusty.”

“I feel crusty.”

Kaela then concluded the interview by saying that she felt “musty”.

When talking about the shower situation and her experience of past events, the water usually ran “ice cold” but she was pleasantly surprised by how hot the water was this year.

Unfortunately, Kaela’s friend didn’t get the same treatment and claimed to only have “four dribbles” of water during her time, so getting a great shower seems to be a hit or miss!

Hopefully this is a rare faulty shower and who would want to be dancing in the hot sun, listening to your favourite artist while feeling "musty".

Thankfully, the shower lines didn’t end up being for both girls and boys as once thought, as there was a designated separate shower for each gender to hop into.

Kaela and her friends then went back to their tents where she enjoyed a delicious breakfast consisting of a yummy “spam sandwich”.

Speaking about what her day will look like and the planned line up, she said that Blink 182 and Dombresky are among the bands that the poster was most excited to see while at Coachella.

She then wrapped up her morning with the promise of further updates to show everyone what life was really like while attending the renowned event.
