It's time to meet a new version of Geralt of Rivia as Liam Hemsworth takes over the role in the newest season of The Witcher.

The actor has taken on the role following Henry Cavill's departure from the series, and makes his first appearance in the new trailer for the upcoming episodes.

Check it out below:

Following Cavill's last appearance in The Witcher last year, showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich revealed that show creators have been working on the 'look' for the new version of the character.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, she said: "His look has been in development for over a year, so it’s thrilling to finally share an official sneak peek of Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia.

"Cast and crew alike have been struck by the passion, energy, and embodiment Liam has brought to the character from Day 1 — scruffy beard, iconic scar, and all! We’re having so much fun filming season 4 and are excited to welcome fans along on this journey with us."

In the trailer, we see the White Wolf of the Continent making his way through a misty landscape before he hears a creaking noise behind him and turns to reveal his face to the camera.

Hemsworth landed the role in the much-loved Netflix series after Cavill, who played Geralt since 2019, announced his departure in 2022.

The Superman star was thought to be heading back to his heroic role on the big screen at the time, but unfortunately Warner Bros. later moved its plans in a new direction.

Though fans were disappointed to see Cavill go, the original face of Geralt has expressed his best wishes for the man set to fill his shoes.

In a statement on social media, Cavill wrote: "My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures. In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters.

"I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam's take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men. Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him. Enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find."

Fans have expressed their excitement to see Hemsworth in the role, with one excited viewer writing: "Can’t wait for it to drop,"

Netflix hasn't revealed a release date for the new season of The Witcher yet, but hopefully fans won't have long to wait!
